Would Kinkladze get into this side?

Kinky was a great player but would not get into this side given the way he applied himself work wise.

The comparison is a bit unfair - the thing is, he grew up in an era where his talent was enough to get him games at a Premier League level but now he would have to have a high work rate too. BUT if he grew up in today's era, he would have that work rate more than likely drummed into him through his development. You'd have a different player.

I always thought Benarbia looked unfit when he was with us. I know he played the game in the Pirlo/Xavi type mold but even they make him look a bit slow. Great player for the time though

Frank Clarke did OK with him after Christmas during the 96/97 season. Problem was, the opposition always doubled up on him. In our team at the time, we didn't have any 'generals' looking after him. Imagine if he had played in the same team(s) as De Jong, Yaya, Ferna, Barry, Milner etc. He'd have been well protected and able to have a free role behind the strikers.

I think that is a very kindly assessment.
Incredibly he was Manager Of The Month in November the season we went down after that fucking 2-2 fiasco with the dippers.
I wouldn't wish anyone dead, but I'm not that bothered that he isn't alive.
