Would you send your kid to private school?

Like everything else in life, if you can afford the best for yourself and your family, why wouldn't you?

Now, everyone's definition of "best" is different, which is why we have choice. So, if your choice of best is private school, boarding school or public school, then go for it! When he/she has done their A Levels, I'm sure you won't hesitate to try to get into the "best" university, so why wait until it might be too late?

Life is hard enoug without feeling guilty about making what you think is the best decision for your family. We get one chance in life to have a positive effect on the world around us. Use it to the full.

No brainer. You want it. You can afford it. That is exactly what money is for. It doesn't harm anyone else. Do it and don't worry a jot about the low self esteem (or ridiculously inflated self esteem?!) of the naysayers....most of whom would not hesitate to do what was best for themselves given any choice in the matter!

Good luck to you and yours.

Excellent post.

Both our girls went to a Secondary School and both achieved, through hard work, Degrees via University at Lancaster and Liverpool.
Both have wonderful careers,so at the end of the day it is about their attitudes and hard graft, which has seen them reach achievements of which we as parents are highly proud of.
I have nothing against private schools but by the same token the same can be said about Secondary Schools. Our eldest daughter was a Drama Teacher in a Secondary School in Cheltenham and now works doing the same job in Birmingham in a high profile Acting/Singing/Art College where some of the best youngsters attend.
If money talks, does it guarantee kids a better life ?

There are never any guarantees but I feel that private schools make it easier for children to reach their true potential.

Our only son who is the baby of the family was never ever going to be like his sister siblings and be an academia. However at 23 years of age,he is in full time employment having worked for an Agency for a few years. The company where he was working via the Agency liked what they saw in Josh and offered him a full time contact and he is now a Deputy Supervisor for a multi national car parts distributor. Not bad for someone who wasn`t a lover of school and again like his sisters we are very proud of him.
With regard to spending money to maybe enhance our kids education I cannot really comment as we have never been in a position to finance it.
At the end of the day its the individual child who has to show his parents that they are not wasting money, just by sending Johnny to boost their own self ego`s,in some cases.

It's funny to read that "capitalist fucker" stuff, because most of my pilot friends (I'm on our Forum here, too) think I'm a socialist fucker who would just as soon lie on the beach taking social bennies as fly for a living....like flying airplanes is ditch digging!!
