Writing is on the wall

Utd are in the Champions League and have weaknesses in goal, and midfield. And they are in the Champions League

They have signed nobody. (Zaha goes back to Palace despite Utd paying £15m)

That must mean Ferguson is going to be sacked at the end of the season!!!!

You rags are as boring as this transfer window

I'm assuming that you're unaware that they are currently running away with the Premier League despite these "weaknesses" or has that bypassed you?

For the record, I'm firmly Mancini in.

However, it's a myth that stability comes from having 1 guy in charge forever.

The correct way is to have the structure in place that remains the same. Directors of football are good, it's just the english don't like them. But they make far more sense. It's 1 strategy, 1 policy.

It certainly beats the english, harry redknapp/sam allardyce approach whereby they want to sign their old mates again. No coincidence that Redknapp didn't like not having sole control of transfers at Spurs.

Mancini will stay I think. If Guardiola was available I'd have serious doubts. I don't believe Soriano and Txiki will want Mourinho, Txiki's fear when Mourinho was interviewed for Barca was that he creates negative press for the club (hasn't changed, he's turned the world's biggest club into a collection of divers, hatchet men and serial cheats on the pitch despite their good football) and believes himself bigger than any club. Add in that our owners hate negative press and it looks unlikely we'll go for Mourinho as tempting as he might be. He's had all sorts of trouble with the Real Madrid dressing room this year, just look at him dropping Casillas the hero of the fans. Klopp is a really interesting manager but is loving life at Dortmund and has the challenge of facing Pep next year. That leaves no one but the old managers like Hiddink, Lippi, Capello, and Pellegrini who neither guarantee more than Mancini or are the sort to build a legacy here. Or the young managers who would be huge risks like Simeone and Emery... don't think either would do as well as Mancini.

Think you have got your wires crossed. Stability does come from having one person in charge long term. Success however maybe different. But I do think for the top sides stability is a better framework for success than regular changes. There are arguments for both sides. Whiskey nose is a prime example of sticking with your manager. Wenger the opposite. He had his day and will struggle to regain. Chelsea have had a level of success despite change but ask yourself if abramovich didn't fall out with mourinho would they have won more than they have since he left?

We will see how he reacts over the coming months. Selling Balotelli could either make him or break him as he staked his reputation on him developing at City.

My thing is if Mancini is replaced is there a better replacement for the long term our there? I don't think so

well here's my twopennorth Mancini is our man..and i think he will be here next season league/facup or not. when he signed a 5 year deal he must have been briefed on Feran and Txixi coming in etc. i think both of the last two windows have been planned to give us financial space to really start on a new plan .. important the coming summer at least that is the only explanation that makes any sense to me.

Which is why I hope we don't let him go because I look at Chelsea as a club we don't want to end up like. The board there obviously have their own opinions on managers. In fact sometimes it seems they will sack someone and then worry about whether there is a better replacement rather than seeing whether someone better is ready to come in first.

Imagine we got a Benitez type manager, not sure who has slagged us to the same extent he did Chelsea but imagine.

He won't be here next season... the signings we made last summer make me question what the board intends to do.

They were vocal all last season about how great of a job Mancini was doing. Now it's all gone quiet. I find it hard to believe that Sinclair and Rodwell were his signings... it doesn't make any sense. And you can bet to let Balotelli go wasn't one of his either.

I seem to recall links between him and a move to Malaga/Italy job (might be wrong)

I'm all for Mancini in. I don't think we'll find a more likeable manager, but I can't see him being here next year... title or no title.

All i'm wondering is who is to come in? Guardiola ready for Bayern. Mourinho? Personally I think that would be a disaster for us in the long term.

He has signed a 5 year contract, but you are near enough right with the speculation surrounding Mancini. Russia and Monaco were keen on appointing him as their new coach. As for his potential replacement, Simone might be worth a gamble.
