Wydad AC (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

We were never going to learn an awful lot from this game tbh. They were actually better than I expected though. Moved the ball quick, had bags of pace and created a good few openings without the killer touch you’d expect from a better side.

I get that some expected a massive and convincing thrashing after the hype of the new signing but that was never going to be the case was it.

Pre season vibes from us. New players, new ideas, and some of the same shortcomings coming through over the 90 minutes.

Positives were Reijnders who was brilliant first half, Phil started well and could’ve got 2, Doku looked dangerous and I thought Savinho looked good first half.

Second half we looked more solid at the expensive of taking out the creativity. I’m sure Pep will get the balance more refined as time goes on.

Cherki was poor but wouldn’t read too much into it. Playing his first game away from Lyon in his entire senior career, debut for us, bound to be nervous at 21. Looked like he was trying too hard at times. He’ll come good.

Thought Rico was fine despite the red which was harsh, but still didn’t show enough to give me confidence he can be a mainstay at right back. We seriously need one.

Looking forward to seeing a more balanced starting 11 as the tournament goes on
Cherki gave me Rick Holden vibes and O’Reilly had a stinker. Ake and Eddie, excellent

He is obviously biased. That’s why. He has no place being a pundit on a rival English team’s game. Can’t believe I really need to articulate this. You might know his allegiance, but you know how when politicians appear on tv and their name appears with their party? Well he needs that. If they did that, less of an issue (but still an issue).

ffs.

Now where’s that brick wall?
Are you suggesting there's pundits that aren't biased? They're all biased. Its practically impossible not to be. Most are employed to give a biased view, Shay Given was there today because he played for City.

So Mikel shouldn't comment on our game because he played for Chelsea? But callum Wilson is fine to comment on it so long as he doesn't refer to any club as "we" despite having obvious allegiances to another English club Just like Mikel?

So now your changing your argument, originally you stated just that he won the ball and therefore no fowl. Now your claiming it wasn't reckless which is a subjective argument.
I haven't changed my argument..he won the ball. Not a foul in my opinion..not reckless..
You seem to change your argument ..saying I need to look at a rule book after 1979..
Have you seen the tackle?? He 100% wins the ball..watch where it goes after he wins it..the other player sliding in gets nowhere near the ball so if anyone is reckless it's him.. pointless going over this anymore as you don't seem to grasp the fact the he WON the ball so no foul in my opinion..even the commentators were shocked by the card..

Good summary. I think many, including me tbh, were hoping for some modified tactics which would help break down the defense more consistently but I guess Pep and his team have not really had any time to implement anything radical. I felt a bit sorry for Cherki as nothing he tried really came off and the role he was asked to play was not an easy one. Reiss looks good on the ball but a bit nervy when under pressure. Reijnders was the standout for me. Seemed to do everything well including positive forward passing. I think he is the signing that will get Pep's demands most quickly.
I wish some fans would offer Lewis a bit more support. He was very unlucky with the red but some fans seem gleeful it happened. He is not (yet) my idea of a perfect City right back but he deserves better from City fans.

Fucking hated the undeserved shite Edghill got, likewise with Rico now. City fans can sometimes be the biggest dickheads going.
Hopefully Rico will have a moment like Edgehill did in the play-off final. He could have easily ducked taking a penalty given the shit he used to get but he stepped up and scored.
For me just as iconic as Dickov's goal and Weaver's saves.

How comes there have been official cooling breaks in the Real game at Miami when there wasn't at our game in Philadelphia? Or did I just miss them...

The temps aren't that different today

Temps might not be, but humidity could. They look dead out there right now.

Started off with plenty of energy, the front 5 trying stuff even though some didn't come off, thought Doku played well and I'm not his biggest fan. It eventually went very meh very quickly.

I'm pretending Cherki never played:-)

Can we see Nouri, khus and gonzales next game please senor Pep.

Still Ruben, Josko, Ait Nori, Nico, Bernie, Manu, Echeverri Kushanov and maybe even John (for 1 game")
The basis of another team. Long way to go to August.

The weirdest of weird football experiences with circa 20,000 City shirts in the crowd, but the regulars and familiar faces simply dwarfed by the LET'S GO CITY types.

In contrast our opponents were outnumbered but their end seemed to contain more genuine supporters who had travelled long distance

The bloke next to me asked why De Bruyne wasn't playing and appeared annoyed when I explained that he was no longer at the club.

There also seemed to be loads of American supporters just wandering around mid game as though they were at the baseball and subsequently missing large chunks of the match
