He would be great but what we need more is someone who can do the defensive work Fernandinho does. If we got him and Matic that would be awesome, but unlikely. It would allow us to play 3 central midfielders more easily and we could push Yaya up more often.

Alonso is absolutely world class and would transform our ability to start moves from deep and play longer balls over the top of defenders for the likes of navas to exploit.
Absolutely shits on Garcia and rodwell and would come in very very handy in the 2nd half of the season.
Very experienced and bursting with CL and prem know how.
Clearly a short term fix but would be a very shrewd one.
