Patrick Vieira confirms Man City's interest in Yann M'Vila, via @DarrenCanalPlus. City not the only ones to be 'interested, though.

Midfielder, bit on the defensive side, not sure if he is needed unless we are preparing for Nige going?

Only seen him a couple of times but looks decent enough.

He is more expansive than Nige and is still only 21, however dont see why we would need him unless someone is going??

Very good talent. No he's not better than De Jong by a distance like the agenda-driven poster above said - De Jong is proven at a higher level for both club and country - but has the potential to be better in a top league, which he has yet to play in. IF De Jong's contract situation isn't sorted M'Vila be a good candidate to replace him along with Sandro and one or two others. Arsenal want him too.

There is no agenda, WATCH both players play then come back to me.

M'vila has everything, De Jong is a player who is good at what he does but is extremely limited.

Please quote me on anything which portrays my "hatred"

It just used to piss me off when people would make claims such as "NDJ is the best DM in the world" "First name on the team sheet" etc etc This pissed me off more due to the completely different attitude given to Gareth Barry when last year their performances were at least equal.

He is good player who I like in the squad. He is a good squad player but nothing more (as has been seen this season). But not good enough to be an automatic pick for a top team, how that can be defined as a hatred I don't no.
 
very good player and would replace an aging barry and be yaya and nidge's understudy i would think, in the process creating the world most dangerous defensive mid who is already being compared to a young paddy v.
For those who dont know much about him- predominantly right footed
around the 6 foot mark
sort of a mix of nidge' defensive work and yaya's runs forward in his style of play
already considered to be amongst the top defensive mids around at the age of 21 and already playing for the french national team
all in all it would be a fantastic signing for the club, for now and the future. GET IT DONE CITY!!

Because last year, he was easily one of our best players. And no, he played better than Barry last season as a whole. Also, in bigger games as well (Chelsea away, Man Utd etc.) You can;t say he's been out of place this year either as he has been injured. Fair enough, not as good as last year but he is just getting back into the side. For his style as a DM, he is easily in the top 5 in the world (of DM's).

We lost Chelsea away and were dismal against Man Utd in both games (although he did play well against Chelsea at home but GB also played well there)

Its your opinion that he played better than Barry and we can have different opinions obviously but I don't think that that was the case. If you re watch every game in the cold light of day I believe you will see GB contributed just as much as De Jong. Well see whether hell get back in... (but he has not been injured for the past 3 or so weeks)

Now this is what pisses me off the most "for his style of DM" - NAME all the players that play his "style of DM". Because under the BM consensus the only players that play his style of DM are players that don't contribute whatsoever to going forward and just defend.

So who is there Mascherano? (who is better than him) and err err no-one

So whenever I name better DMs I just get - he doesn't play the same role etc etc.

To be honest mate, I'd take into account any DM in the world. Essien, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano, Cambiasso etc. He is up there with the best.

If those players count, these are the "DM" that I would say are a decent bit better than him.

Pirlo (You could also argue Xavi and Martin and other such deep lying playmakers)

M'Vila
L. Diarra

Yaya
De Rossi

I would say he is around the level of players like this:

Van Bommel

There is absolutely no requirement for an NINTH midfielder at Manchester City football club.

There is a need for an experienced center back to partner Kompany and cover him when he's injured.

The fact that we took a punt on Hargreaves leads me to believe that the boss is happy with what he's got, and just wanted someone to run down the clock or play in the carling cup games like Viera often did.

All these players being linked to us by greedy agents, I don't believe any of it for a second.
