Yaya - a lazy ass or something else?

What in your opinion is the problem with Yaya?

He is time and time again frustrating to watch, as he seems to be just walking around refusing to use his body strength and in general just being completely off the pace. What is his problem?

IMHO, our worst player today. I thought surely Mancini saw the same thing I did and was going to replace him with DeJong. He has all the latent talent of any of the worlds best, I just wish he looked a little more motivated on a regular basis.

In answer to your question... I have no idea. I hope it is something else.

Not lazy, I think the guy really cares.

But his mobility is a problem for me. He's too slow to get into position when we lose the ball.

Also too easy to get past. A quick side step and once the player is away from him that's him out of the game.

Barry may not be the quickest but he reads the game better and was doing a lot of covering for Yaya tonight when we didn't have the ball.

We had this thread early last season and it came back to embarrass people. He's a class player and was good in the opening few games. Hasn't been so good in last few but he and Barry are not a good holding midfield pair as neither of them will chase and harry like De Jong will. De Jong and Yaya should be tried together and if that isn't enough then back to three midfielders when necessary with Yaya pushing forward.

He needs a De Jong by him in matches against dominant midfields as he doesn't have to stamina or workrate. Sorry, but Barry isn't enough for that. A pure holding role is not for him, and he got away with it at Barca, because defense starts up front and the load is shared as a team.

This is why when De Jong played and Yaya was pushed forward last season, he was more effective.

Th short memories some people have!

He started off slowly last season too.

And then he beat the rags and won us the Cup.

Never has to buy another drink/meal in Manchester ever again.

He never has to do anything ever again as far as I'm concerned, although 'm sure he will do.

He is a class player but doesn't do enough off the ball with regards to traking back, following runs etc...

He is being found out a bit playing in a midfield 2 as opposed to a midfield 3 like last year.

He was shit, slow, overweight and cumbersome at the start of last season. And he has been pretty much the same so far this season. Fulham's midfield raped him, never mind Bayern.
Let's hope he improves like last year. He is a class act but a strange kind of a player. I've never seen an elite footballer with such shocking levels of core fitness and stamina. He takes five minutes to recover from a sprint.
He and Nasri will need to seriously get their act together soon, with Nigel coming back. They are passengers at the moment.

I dont think he should play every game

same here, but he started off last season in the same vein so lets hope he kicks on from here.

just on a side note anyone think his slow starts to the season could be something to do with him fasting for ramadan and not getting the right amounts of nutrition in him in the hectic first few games of the season and is there for playing catch up for a while?

Said it before, say it again, he doesn't have naturally high stamina levels, you can't really change that. You can improve it, but he'll never be a Milner.

That why he needs a grafter next to him to do the dirty work and expend energy while he focuses on the finesse side of the game with the occasional run, odd tackle, and good passing.

He's an entirely gutless, charmless, lazy bastard with the physique and posture of a 90 year old Queen Latifah suffering from a degenerative spine, and the application of Robinho after a few hits of a large bong.

While a talented player while in possession, without it he's as useful as a traffic cone.

Our most frustrating player.

And an indefensibly lazy ****.
