Yaya - a time to cash in?

He scores important goals for us plus when he turns up he is unstoppable id keep him becuase even if we let him go for 10/15 million in a few years we have still got our moneys worth out of him

Definitely going to put the cat amongst the pigeons with this one.

I think we are in a perfect position to sell him and aquire a specialised player like kondogbia or gundogan. I know most people will be like, he's our best player, he's a beast, he won us the fa cup and the title.

However let me paint another picture, he's a jack of all trades but a master of none whose value is only going to decrease parallel to his stamina. Yes when he runs at defences he's frightening, but that won't be his job next season, and as a defensive player I find him very lazy and petulant at times. There is no doubt he's been a hero for us but I think now is a time we think of whole team dynamics and I can't help think, he could be a possible weak link, especially with his stamina and tendencies to go missing even tho he was alledgly pro Mancini.

So cash in or keep?
Keep.

Everyone except Zaba had an off year last season. So I think it is harsh to judge him on last season because if that was the case we wouldn't have many players in the team.

I think let Pellegrini have a season with him, by all accounts he extracts the best out of everyone and I trust in him to do it with Yaya. No reason why he can't.

Get the best out of Yaya and you win, not just games but trophies.

good post.

i despair. Probably one of very few players worldwide who any team/squad would snap up in an instant. City's best all round player in my opinion since i started watching 20 years ago

Yep, and by a country mile as well. I absolutely despair at Blues who call him lazy. I just don't know what they are watching.

yaya is irreplaceable , cant believe someone has started this thread , hes a big game player , scores the important goals , and without the african nations cup next year (took him weeks to get back to form last season), he will tear the opposition apart this season. Ask any football fan if they would have him in their side , and they would say yes , even real and barca fans , because he is a far better player now , than when he played at the Nou Camp.

This really isn't as bad a topic as it sounds. I personally think we should look to move him on next season and bring in Gundogan as a replacement, Gundogan--Fernandinho is a perfectly balanced midfield. Ideally Yaya would last forever because he's easily one of the best CMs in the world and his technical ability is something quite special, he has an incredible skill set which very few players in footballing history have possessed, but age will catch up with him and we have to be proactive in our approach if we're to ensure we keep winning titles.

-- Fri Jul 05, 2013 1:30 am --

However, I should say, the topic creator came to the right conclusions in the wrong way. Yaya shouldn't be sold because he isn't a "master of a trade", he's an immense player right now and he'd get into any club in the world's first XI, but I do think in a year or two he won't contribute to a well balanced midfield, and that's vital to every top side.
