YaYa and the remaining games

It's a shame one of the best players to ever wear the blue shirt is going out like this. His contributions over the past few seasons have been immense and it's been a pleasure to watch him play (plus he had a great song!).

I hope his form picks up and we play him till the end of the season, then he can sod off to Italy with his reputation as a city legend intact and we can try and find a suitable replacement.

He will never be a legend for me, he could have easily been though if he just didn't pull all the crap off field.
A great player who helped us a lot as a club we also gave him the platform he needed so it is 50/50 in that regard.

If others class him as a legend then fair enough however no amount of cajoling or debate will ever change my mind on that.

I am not bitter about his antics, they just compromise him regarding his status at the club for my money.

Clearly he has not been anywhere close to last season, but that was as good as it gets so always unlikely.

However he wasn't on the pitch when Villa scored their goals on Saturday and in January when he was in Africa we were equally as crap.

The mistake the club made was expecting his form to go on forever and not signing anyone with the required quality to step into his shoes.

He also got a lot of support from Silva and Nasri last season but this year the latter has been crap on the whole and Silva only good in patches.

To be honest most of the side have been average at best so it's not just him.

gotta to say, this post best sums it up for me.

Why? Just because he doesn't particularly care about the club as much as we'd dream or want him to and because he might fancy playing somewhere else for the last part of his career...well join the real world, because most footballers do not give a shit about what club they play for, they'd all be happy enough to be at decent enough clubs on decent enough money in a decent enough league wherever that may be.

If given the choice most players in our squad would go and play for United at the drop of a hat if they were going to be sold by us and had a choice of where to go themselves: the most important things to them (and to anyone else who has a job of any kind) would be they wouldn't have to move house, they'd earn a similar wage and be able to play in the same league as they're used to.

These footballers don't give a shit half as much as people think they do or should. It's a job, that's it.

Yaya has been fantastic for us. Properly fantastic. Even this year when everyone's had their knickers in a twist about him, he's our third top scorer, our top passer and even as recently as ten days ago he was IMO the best player on the pitch in a match. He's scored winning or equalising goals that have contributed to 15points this season (Villa away opening goal in a 0-2 win, Swansea at home winner, West Brom away scored the second in a 1-3 win, Everton at home winner, Southamptin away opening goal in a 0-3 win) - not bad going at all! I haven't included assists that may have lead to equalising or winning goals contributing to more points.

Totally agree^^^^^.

Whatever any of us think about Yaya as a person, his contribution to the recent success the club has enjoyed has been immense. I'm certainly not dismissing the contributions that players like Silva, Aguero, Zaba and Kompany have made but Yaya's contributions is right up there with the best of them. FA Cup semi-final, League Cup final, Newcastle away, Palace away (and many more of lesser individual importance) and Yaya stepped up to the plate and dragged us through. As I say, whatever you think of him and/or his agent, Yaya's importance to our success should never be under estimated, down played or forgotten. Would I play him in the run in? If he's fit I'm not convinced that currently we are any better without him in the team than we are with him in it, so yes I would.
