Yaya-Keep or Sell?

Sell.
Not interested if he all of a sudden has had a change of heart and want's to stay. We need a fresh team.

If we can afford to get rid on a free just do it - but stipulate some other arrangement with Inter of interest to us. Can't just carry on giving Italians everyone on the cheap/free. Need to get Yaya's poor attitude clear of the squad and free up the wages he hasn't been earning.

This could get tedious, Inter have new owners who clearly want to make a mark yet all the smoke signals suggest they want him on a free and nothing else. The problem we will have is that Yaya can force this through by refusing any other alternative and that would leave us with the decision of keeping him and running the last year down (but presumably not listing him in any squad and not playing him) or letting him go for free.

On balance - I'd let him go for free but not untill the end of the transfer window and having explored every other option and taken him round china and the rest of the summer tour.

He probably wants the last year of his contract to be paid out in full, plus to be allowed to leave this summer on a free transfer. The club would probably want some sort of compromise, but it would seem to me that Yaya holds the best cards as City needs to get him off the employment list to create room in the wages budget for new acquisitions.

So he's clearly ruled out the idea of putting in a transfer request. He knows we want his 200k+ wages off the books. He'll want his final year paid up and a loyalty bonus.
Inter should be told that he can go on a year's loan, paying his salary in full. Or, he or they can buy out his final year at 10-12 m.
What can't be acceptable is that we pay the final year or subsidise his wages. If we're prepared to play brinkmanship on this, he and his agent would back down. It'd mean seluk not getting his money and toure's career over. They'd blink first.

Not that I am expert on these matters, nor an ITK, but my guess is that it is exactly this poker game that is being played at the moment.

Make him come to China,i bet he won't want to and they will blink then if they haven't already, its kinda sad we have to part playing games with him and his twatty agent

If we took the option of letting him rot in the reserves, imagine the bile and venom he and his agent would be spewing every week to the press?
I'd fine him 2 weeks wages for every indiscretion or whenever they diss the club.

Give him the choice:-

1 Terminate his contract, by mutual consent, thus not paying him but allowing him to negotiate a signing on fee with Inter to cover his reduced wage rate for that year and sign a multi year contract with them.

2 Tell him he is now peripheral but that we respect everything that he has done for us and we are happy for him to see out his contract if that is what he wants. Tell him he won't be named in the Champions League squad but that we will include him in the Premier League list although he probably won't start many/any games but that he will make occasional substitute appearances. Tell him he will be the first name on the team sheet for all domestic cup games and as a measure of our respect for him and all that he has done he will captain the team in those games. As a "semi retired" legend he could also do some PR work for the club and maybe do a bit of coaching at the academy. He'd look a twat if he kicked up a fuss.

My guess is we'd not see him for dust.
