Yaya-Keep or Sell?

Now back to my Koke hating :-) I think he is slow, and will not enjoy the pace of players in the Prem. While he's passing tree is dynamic, I think he is a passer and lacks dribbling skills ( of the take on a defender variety). His possesion skills while good enough for the Prem isn't at the level of what we ascribe to diminutive Spanish players. He is not at the Silva, Carzola, or Mata level. More like Dihno level ball control without the makeup speed.

I know most disagree vehemently with that characterization, and opinions vary, but that's what I see when I watch him. Not to mention, he seldom dominate games. I often can't tell who had a better game, Koke, Saul, Gabi or Thiago. They all seem to play about the same way. All hustle, tackling and general good passing. I know he is better than all the others, but it's not like Silva was for us 2 years ago. Where he stood taller than anyone.

I'm right there with you on Koke. What do you think it'd cost to get him anyway? I'd rather over pay and lock up Pogba personally.

I reckon Koke will be quite expensive. At least 50 million Euros. KDB type money if I were to guess.

If we're spending 150m this window I'd be seriously disappointed if Koke takes up about a third of it. Gundogan, KDB, Dinho, Silva, Nasri, and some cheaper midfielder other than Koke is what I'd prefer. I think we need a massive improvement over Navas and I'd prefer if we landed somebody like Inkai or Sane. I really, really, hope we can pull Pogba off but I'm starting to have my doubts.

Part of the 'fun' during all of this is the guessing game. I've heard both 150 and the 250/300 but I used a conservative estimate. I've asked multiple times how the 250-300 figure would work in regards to FFP but haven't had any luck with getting a response. I'm sure there are so many variables to make answering that question tough but it'd be nice if somebody ITK with regards to that could answer it. If the 250-300 figure is correct and FFP won't be an issue then I'm all for splashing 50m in a few places but I'm not sure Koke is where I'd start. I'll be totally content with whatever we do this summer but a huge marketable star (pogba, pogba, pogba) would be amazing and if the figure is 150 that isn't going to happen unless we settle for three or maybe four players.

Wingers we are linked to have all been flash in the pan types like Sane and Inaki Williams. I'd rather Inaki over Sane, but not too high on either. I think we can get a youth player to give similar production. Sane has a soft touch style that's a bit annoying. It makes him prone to losing the ball. And he is not top end fast. He might turn out a star, but his effectiveness until he becomes one is gonna be shaky. Inaki is more direct, albeit less talented naturally.

Interesting. I was going under the impression that Pep preferred wings with a good amount of pace and having another year of Navas up there would be torture for me. You think Navas will stick around and play a large role?

Yeah, that's why the likes of Sane and Inaki are linked. Inaki has good pace, so does Dembele. Sane is more fancy. He is pacy, just not sure op end. He reminds me of Spur's Dembele. Who isn't super fast, but has the canny ability to blow past players by taking great angles. They are vnot similar players though.
 
Sadly we have seen the best of Yaya, time to move on I think.
