Why is this tournament played at this time of year?

The vast majority of the players are employed by European club sides so UEFA should protest most vigorously, oh sorry forgot that little weasel Prattini was in charge.
Can get a tad hot in Africa during our off-season. Unless you're suggesting it should be played in South Africa every time.
Am I wrong in thinking Africa is in the southern hemisphere therefore its summer now?

Erm. It's summer there now as its the southern hemisphere. Our off season is their winter so it should be better to play ideally as it won't be so hot.

You had to know things looked too good to be true after last night and something would have to go against us to even things up a bit. Did Baconface ring the Ivory Coast boss and beg him?

the difference is Yaya takes pride in playing for his country and wouldn't do that.

I have beef with Mancini saying 'We have 17 players,' said Mancini. 'I do not know how it is going to work.'

If you look at some of the pieces of crap every other team have to put out when their squads aren't fit (United - Fryers? That kid they brought on against Blackburn?) we still have the likes of Razak and Onuoha and whilst neither are part of the short or long term plans you know the commitment from both would be there. I don't like when he complains about these things because it happens to every club.

Ivory Coast seem to fear being disregarded and belittled more than actually having the players at their disposal. I think a personal plea to the IC manager from Yaya and Kolo would do it.

As for the solution in their possible absence at Sunday, Nige will do a job no question. We woudl do well not to forget who we are playing - yes we beat them 6-1 and they have lost their last two, but I for one will be more at ease knowing Nige is prowling in front of the back four and closing down the likes of Nani and Rooney - they are still a dangerous team. I can see Milner and Nigel starting centrally on Sunday if no Yaya. Zaba can do a job there if we need, though maybe with him and NDJ there we have a much reduced range of passing available.

Longer term Barry, Nige and Milner should get the nod, Hargreaves (or Razak) on the bench if he can prove his fitness and full steam ahead for De Rossi! Plus, Nasri can also play centrally in games where we expect to have a little more of the ball, as can Silva.

Alternatively, if you can't defend... Silva, Nasri, Dzeko, Balo and Aguero all in the same starting line-up? Not impossible.

This makes Barry pointless red the other night even more infuriating. It was handled very poorly the other night.

Instead of having De jong for 30 minutes vs Liv we will now have to play him all game and most importantly without Yaya.
