Yaya says Pep "does not like African players" - Pep says "he's lying and knows it"

Yaya has always been an egotistical moron and this is just another example. You could tell he'd been agitating by the way Pep gave him game time when the league was won.

If he thinks he could have got anywhere near our first team last season he's utterly deluded. Pep even gave him a few games mid-season and he was atrocious, getting run past and playing pointless backwards passes.

It doesn't matter, he's been a big player and got some important goals and will always be remembered for that. But as a player or a man he's never been at the level of Silva, Aguero and Kompany.

Too many people are forgetting he is a legend for this club and always will be. Has bigger balls than all of the other stars here (done it when it mattered in the biggest games). On the face of it the claims are absurd, but we are not privy to what goes on

Can't agree with that at all. Past good deeds, no matter how significant cannot excuse future behaviour. There are many historical monsters who it could be argued also did some good things, but their legacy will always be the bad things.
Calling someone a racist, so publicly, with no opportunity for reply has ruined Toure's legacy. If he had a legitimate complaint, he would have taken it to the police, PFA, club etc. He hasn't - he's chosen to make this deplorable accusation in the world's media - and no doubt been paid for it too!

I disagree. As a player, in his pomp, he was as good as anyone. As a person... Meh.

As I said earlier in the thread, you could say the same about Tevez. Great player, especially when you needed someone to step up and drive the team on, but never ever a club legend

Seluk has just given an interview to Russian media. Behaves like a 5-year old. 'Pep is a fraud', 'he's all about money', 'even my granny would win Bundesliga with Bayern' etc. All cliches in one piece.

He could be great but there was an element of the flat track bully about him. His best years were that first couple of seasons when he played in front of De Jong/Barry who cleared up behind him, and he was running past people for fun. But as a deep-lying midfielder he was flawed and caused us problems in the Champions League.

It doesn't matter about all the daft stuff he's been involved with, though. He' part of our history now and the great moments don't need to be forgotten.

Have to wonder why Toure signed an extension last year if he had such concerns about Guardiola. Or indeed why Guardiola would even offer him one if he was so against African players, especially as most of us already thought he was done at this level.

He has made himself look rather stupid. Guardiola has regularly played black players. In fact Walker, Mendy, Delph, Kompany, Sane, Sterling, Jesus and Fernandinho have all played regularly when fit this season. Debut for Nmecha as well.

If the problem is just with Africans, then I wonder why we are trying to sign Mahrez. Or indeed why Guardiola played Keita and others at previous clubs. I wonder how many other top teams have the 5 Africans that Toure seems to want playing regularly.

No, Yaya. The problem isn't Guardiola or racism. The problem is you. You're not good enough for this level any more and haven't been for a while. Your ego can't handle it, so it has to be somebody else's fault.

I've just read the interview in The Guardian and it is almost the carbon copy of what Zlatan or Samuel said and complained about Pep. But then, read what Clichy had to say about Pep and his experience and you realise it is all bout the player's ego and whether he is able to control it. Yaya obviously can't and his ego just took control of the interview!

It’s toure talking like it’s cruelty that he’s being left out of the team/squad when he’s left out on merit that’s what bugs me. He hasn’t been the player he thinks he is for 3 years so should pass the torch with some dignity

Which should see a move back to being able to have a few African players if so desired. Not too many clubs out there that have more than one or two at this point in time I'd say.

More than you might think, but it may be due to the recent move. Liverpool, Arsenal, Palace, Huddersfield, Newcastle, Leicester all have 3+ I think (Newcastle may be loans)
