Whatever happened to the 'Yaya breather'?

You used to be able to set your watch by it in the second half of a game. He would have just made a couple of trademark runs and then gone into a 50/50 challenge. The outcome of said challenge would see him either lying motionless clutching his leg or, my personal favourite, banging the ground in agony (must have had ITV's World of Wrestling in Cote d'Ivoire ). He'd then require on-field treatment, shuffle off, have a drink, and wander back.

Is it because he had a half-season breather that we rarely see it these days, or is Pep less accepting of it? :-)

I suppose the answer will come in the Summer. If he leaves it means City do not consider him a 150 million pound footballer. If the world's top clubs are queuing to sign him then Chicago guy has a point.
Personally I will be surprised if guardiola sees him as a viable defensive midfielder for his vision of the future.

Nobody would consider Pogba a £100 mil player either.

Pellegrini ran him into the ground in a system with no midfield, whilst also allowing him to get fatter & fatter & still play every week.

We could see recently that he was starting to sieze up, when Pep overplayed him, but in this system he gets a lot more help with sheer numbers dropping in there & is half the width he was last year.

No . But he is 10 years younger than Yaya. I was really replying to the Chicago blue post which was a bit silly.

If you asked 20 premier league managers who do you want. A 23 he old Pobga or 33 year old Yaya. What would they say?

Like most supporters of teams ours can be goggle eyes.

Which would you have. If you had the choice now.

If they were free ? Pogba. For £100 mil, neither. For next season, Yaya.

I think it's because he doesn't do the lung-busting runs any more, he's limited himself to make sure he can last an entire 90 mins.

My question to you was who would you rather have if you were signing either player. A 33 yr old. Or the 23 year old.

I think your answer would be Yaya.

I also asked how many of the 20 premier league managers would choose Yaya. Not too many I believe

I would have Pogba. There is so much potential with the right coach imo .

Remember a 1000 page thread in here not so long ago.

Everyone entitled to an opinion though.

If I was choosing a player for next season, for City, it would be Yaya, & not even close.

If I was choosing a player for finacial gain & I could have Pogba for nothing, I'd choose Pogba & sell him.

And reaistically, the fact nobody would spend 100 mil on Pogba, I think most teams will consider Yaya if he leaves.

So far I have seen him linked with crystal palace, Toon, Brighton and west ham.
arsenal Chelsea liverpool man u spuds yet to be mentioned.

No one can still bench him, therefore just extend his contract until someone perform better than him.
