Yaya: "Something has to be done. When you see the highlights of the game, I think you’ll see it was harsh."

Yaya: "I’ll go home and watch the highlights and I’ll probably break the glass of brandy and coke and be angry because we’ve lost two points like that."

Fixed ;)

Oh dear. Those yaya quotes about playing for love not the money.

They must think we are so gullible.

Quite contrasts a new contract by the end of the week or I am off.

Can't fault him if he did in fact reject offers from China.

Good for him that he's actually doing a great job however, I still believe it would be folly to offer him another deal - he will be looking for 2 years and on similar wages, those wages should be used to find the next Delle Ali. The way that Sane and Gabriel played shows the future is in youth - looking at the programme I noticed the age profile of the Spurs squad with the only two players over 30 being the goal keepers - yes we outplayed them, but we need to reduce our squads age by at least 2 years. Yaya has been immense for us over a number of years and I am glad he is back to near his best although against aggressive, high press teams his age shows. Hope he finishes this season in the good form he's in right now then we can give him a well deserved send off.

The article says he wants a 12 month extension. Frankly at the level he's playing now it would be ludicrous to let him go. He was more important than anyone else on the pitch for how we played on Saturday, without Yaya that performance doesn't happen.

There is no more aggressive, high pressing team than Spurs in the league, and his age most certainly did not show.

Our squads age will reduce by more than 2 years simply with the fact that Willy, Sagna, Zabaleta, Clichy, Navas are all likely to be leaving. Short of buying replacements in their 30's the average age will drop significantly.

We already have Sané, Sterling, Jesus, Iheanacho & Stones 22 or under. We have a bunch of u21 academy players in and around the team who may be promoted, loanees who are doing well enough to be recalled, and under Pep our transfer targets have all been very young (exception Bravo).

If we're not careful we'll swing too far the other way, and we'll lack experienced senior players and leaders.

Leaders do not put 2 stone in weight on.
Leaders do not go missing for 6 months.
Leaders do not give end of the week contract demands

Leaders do not just start using the media when it suits them.

The only thing I would argue there is, without him that performance wouldn't happen. It was happening frequently with Fernandinho at the start of the season.

Currently he deserves an extension. If he's working hard and has abandonded or rather we've disbanded his clique I'd have him for another season.

As you say, Clichy, Zaba, Willy, Navas all look to be on their way out. There's a decent chance Delph & Fernando will follow too.
They will surely be replaced by younger players.

Toure's current form offers the opportuntity to rotate with Fernandinho, interchange with Fernandinho and even rest Silva & De Bruyne a little more against the cloggers.
Both Toure & Fernandnho have shown qualities in the more advanced role and defensively.
Fernadinho could also be deployed elsewhere. He's always looked excellent at centre half inhis limited minutes there.
