I can't believe so many people are taking it at face value and thinking Yaya is genuinely spitting his dummy out because we didn't get him a birthday cake. There it's absolutely no truth in that, it's so absurd that it's just not worth discussing.
Clearly this is his agent chatting shit to try and re-negotiate his contract / angle for a move. He does it every season, and did it regularly at Barca.
If he came out in the press directly and said he wanted more money / wanted to leave, he'd probably be in breach of contract and we could fine him / withhold his bonus.
So he's causing a stink about a "lack of respect" because it forces City's hand to respond / flushes out other interested clubs. It's not a new tactic, Ronaldo claims he wants to "feel the love" every time he wants a new contract. Rooney chats shit about a lack of ambition. Tevez's agent talked of broken promises etc.
It's a horrible way to do business, but it's the reality of the modern game, unfortunately.
Yaya has come from absolutely nothing in Ivory Coast to being one of the highest paid sportsmen in the world, earning an unimaginable amount of money. The man that has helped that happen is Demitri Seluk. He might well be an idiot, but Yaya is understandably close to him and trusts him to handle his affairs.
I'm sure we've all got friends / family members who behave like dickheads from time to time, but we stick by them because we have close human relationships.
Yaya has been foolish for allowing this farce to happen, but I think he's very much the passenger as opposed to the driver.
I personally believe Yaya sent the first two tweets yesterday. Then I think he had a phone call from Seluk saying "what the fuck are you doing, you're messing up my plan to get you a contract as big as Messi's".
Yaya then authorised Seluk to handle his twitter / media output and went back to preparing for the World Cup with Ivory Coast.
The truth might be that Seluk is doing everything he can to squeeze every last penny out of City. He's going about it in a dreadfully distasteful way, but essentially he's employed to get the most money he possibly can for his client, so that explains his motivation.
It might be that Yaya wants a new challenge / change of scene. I'd be gutted if that's true, but many players reach that stage in their life where they want a change of surroundings. If that's how he genuinely feels, while I'm personally disappointed, he'd go with my best wishes as he's been one of the best players ever to play for our club, and helped to bring unparalleled success in terms of league titles.
What is not true, and I refuse to believe, is that Yaya is arsed about his birthday cake / a lack of love or respect. It's absolutely nonesense, and I can't believe it is even getting talked about.
