Give over.

This is fuck all. Sort of thing that happens in football all the time.

It's quite entertaining,

Haha, I was thinking that yesterday. Nice to have something to concentrate the mind until the world cup. So actually thank you Seluk, you massive twat.

I'd be much more bothered if it Silva.

Yaya brings footballing problems as well as brilliance. I can handle the idea of a better tackler alongside Fernandinho.

I'd rather he stayed, but at 31 I am not going to be shedding a tear if he goes and we get good money for him.

That goes for me also !

How would people feel if it was announced in the next couple of weeks that he has signed a new improved contract? Pleased that we've kept him or disappointed that the club have ceded to Seluk/Yaya's ridiculous strategy? At this point if he stays due to a back down or the club refusing to budge, I wouldn't mind so much but if he gets what he wants by behaving this way, I'd be pretty pissed off.

I'd be so bitterly disappointed in Khaldoon, Soriano and Txiki if that happened.

However IMO the one thing that is most certainly assured is that our highest paid player is not going to get a new contract at 31 having signed one 12 months ago, no matter how good a season he's just had. If he thinks he's Messi or Ronaldo he's deluding himself and has that kind of power he's deluding himself.

Well if he wants 300k a week he can bugger off to a club willing to pay him that. He is our highest earner and has 3 years left on his deal. If we bow down to his demands then whats to stop Sergio, Silva, Nasri getting their agents to do the same thing so they can have 300k as well. We need to call his agents bluff and if he does end up leaving he might have the 300k a week he wanted but he will be in a rubbish league in Russia or France or wherever and not the most competitive and most watched league in the world.

I seriously doubt this is about money, I believe them on that score.

Yaya has earned £50m since he has been with us, if he can earn another £7m a year, elsewhere, that will be good enough.

He's a surly and precious bastard who simply wants a change and new environment.

He knows he can get all the above at any other top club on the continent.

I agree that as he's earning 11m a year, an extra 2 or 3 wouldn't make a great deal of difference to him financially. However, I think you've hit the nail on the head about him being precious. The extra few million a season is so he's on a par with the likes of Rooney, Messi and Ronaldo in terms of his wage. It could be an ego thing for him / his agent.

He may well want a change of scene, and again if that's the case I wouldn't hold a grudge against him.

Never underestimate the desire from people who are very very rich to want even more.

Re: Yaya Toure

If this is contract wrangling it is ridiculous blatant. And why do it now, not last year?

I think he still believes that we're the same club we are when he signed - ie desperate to get our name out onto the big stage and do anything to get players coming here. The tide is changing now, and players want to come here to be win trophies. We were the most successful team in the country last year, and not to be bullied by a 31 year old wanting a pay rise and a team designed around him.

There will have to be a future without him at some point, with a different team not built to accommodate him.

Very true, in fact, once footballers renegotiate contracts above a certain level it's just plain silly to presume money is no longer a motivation for them.

Having grown up in that world I can confirm that it is indeed a prerequisite to being wealthy, unfortunately. Greed and avarice breeds greed and avarice. And a mind seeking wealth, when successful, believes continued success to be predicated on building further wealth.

Re: Yaya Toure

Even though yaya is am important part of our squad with all his goals, assists and chances he creates, as well as the fear he puts in our opposition and those marauding runs I even if he leaves we are in a win-win situation.

He has almost three years left on his contract and who ever is interested we should not listen to offers less than 40m.

let the bidding begin at 40m, whatever we get for him can be used to get a quality replacement, pogba, cesc, vidal etc.

Sky have just asked roy hodgson if its important he knows when all the players birthdays are lol

Can't fault them for having a bit of fun with this bizarre affair.

Our PR team really needs to take hold soon, though. This will get out of hand and, as I said earlier, will soon look like we have no control.
