Re: Yaya Toure

I don't understand what all the fuss has been about.

His agent has been playing a few games and Yaya hasn't flatly confirmed or denied anything. Maybe his brother dying has made him a little melancholy.

Fantastic player for us and nothing he will ever say or do will ever change that.

He is our colossus without a doubt. He can turn a match on his own. He signed a four or was it a five year deal at the start of 2012/2013 season so we have him until 2017 or 2018. He'll probably drop deeper and maybe centre half as he loses his pace. Be a great central defender as Mancio said around the time he signed the deal.

Don't know why all these posters are getting on their high horses about what has been said. They obviously have forgotten the sh*t we've had to put up with in the past from players turning in for training reeking of drink or not looking after themselves but taking the wages but who the same posters worshipped like they were God. Players like Dunnie who wasn't fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Yaya but who took the p*ss out of the club with his behaviour and not just off the pitch and yet nobody will say a bad word about him and a civil war erupted when he was sold.

Seems like a few posters on here have forgotten their roots and become a little precious.

Toure for me the way he has gone about things in the last couple of months has been a massive disappointment to say the least. In the Gary Cook interview he said the one player who bought into what the club was trying to do and didn't just come for the money was Toure. He has probably been the most complete midfield player i have seen since Colin Bell and on his day is almost unplayable. His goals won us the semi final against the rags and the final, giving us our first trophy in 35 years. His wonder strike against Sunderland lifted everybody and helped us win the league cup and his goals this year have been a massive plus to us winning the league again. Now he is in danger of spoiling all these great memories by behaving like a spoilt prima donna 5 year old. What a shame.

In some ways i can understand him wanting to move on.He has won four trophies here, the domestic set and the league twice. At 31 he probably feels we aren't strong enough to win the champions league before he retires and maybe he wants one last crack at it with a club who may win it,who knows?

He should have gone away, enjoyed the world cup,had a holiday and reflected. If he still wanted to go i am sure if he sat down with the powers that be and explained why and a decent offer came in he would have gone with everyone's love and blessing.Instead we have had the shameful and stupid rants and statements played out in full glare of the world's media.

If he does go i hope the club play hardball and take a top player plus cash in exchange from whatever club comes in for him, otherwise for me he stays and sees out his contract.

As i say it is just a great shame it has come to this.

Fantastic post. Agree totally with everything you say.

To pick out one line though about us being less likely to win the Champions league. We have a miles better chance e than the club yaya is courting. As in PSG. Only protection from platini will get them anywhere near us in the football world.

It's money mate. Pure and simple.

Cheers for the compliment.I think PSG will be stronger than us in the champions league and more so if they sign Toure of course.I can't see how he can get more money than he is on here, what is it,250 grand a week?

Might be a tax issue. We cane him.

Re: Yaya Toure

PSG doesn't have anything like our squad, to be honest, especially not with the new guys, Fernando and now, as looks increasingly likely, Benatia, coming in. They also don't have the quality in the French championship to keep them on their toes. A great windy gulf has opened up between them and Monaco, and the rest. I think that counts, although you can read it the reverse way, and say that by coasting in their championship this brings them fresh to the marquee games in the CL.
One thing I don't quite get about Yaya. Over and over again, from the start, he has said 'I've come to City to help them make history'. Does he now think that history has been sufficiently made at this club?

On your last point i would say he probably does and feels in the short space of time he has been here he HAS made history. We had not won a trophy for thirty five years. In our WHOLE history as a club, over a hundred years we had won only TWO league titles.Since his and the rest of the new players arrival we have alread won two titles,an FA cup and a league cup.The only thing missing is the champions league. It is a remarkable turn around, money or no money and he has been at the hub of it all.

great post mate.
i'm struggling to understand that it is just about money.
he has more of that than sense, a millionaire a few times over

Re: Yaya Toure

All perfectly true. But as you and I both know, we had won all those trophies before, even if it was a long way back. The one trophy that this club has never won — you just mentioned it. If he really wants to make groundbreaking history at this club, it might just be worth his while sticking around. We are getting closer to it with every season that passes.

Re: Yaya Toure

In my opinion, Toure is mentally and physically destroyed as he recently said and isnt fully there at the time. He went from a brutally taxing, both physically and mentally, premier league campaign straight to the World Cup, where he was running on fumes. Then his 28 year old brother dies from Cancer while hes away.

Imagine if that happened to you? I wouldnt be able to focus, concentrate or do anything. He needs a long rest and holiday to not only recharge his batteries but to simply think things through and detox for awhile.
