Yaya Toure - commits future to City (page 855)

Re: Yaya Toure

A lot of people are reading a lot into recent things and I think that those statements are best ignored. Yes he had a hissy fit and behaved like a bellend at the end of the season but I think right now he is unlikely to be doing much more than spending time with his family now the football season is over.

He is just a typical African player - ironic that they come from nothing and then act like the greediest and most selfish cunts in the world. Nearly every African team in the World Cup had issues over player bonuses despite all but Algeria being shite. Not one gives a toss about the fans, the shirt, their club or country. I have said before too that Yaya is only interested in the big games. He could be up there with Messi and Ronaldo in terms of reputation if only he tried as hard in every game he played. He can run 60 yards with the ball and bury it in the bottom corner and the only reason he doesn't do it more often is his attitude.

This is probably the last opportunity we have to get rid of him for decent money. No rival in this country would have him and there are options out there. I wouldn't say there is a player who is directly comparable to him but we can re-shape our side playing Fernando and Fernandinho centrally and Silva in the no.10 role behind a striker. Vidal would be the best replacement for instant impact, Pogba one who could go on to be a real talent.

Rightly or wrongly, I still think he'll be a City player next season.

If he is, I hope he doesn't sulk. He's come across as a proper mard arse and the last thing we need is a passenger.

I think that's the call that our DoF and Pellegrini need to make regarding Toure. Keeping a bad apple in the dressing room is worse than selling him cheap IMO. If he stays AND puts it in for us, great we're winning. Otherwise, if they think he's gonna down tools or start strolling through training sessions/matches, fuck him off asap.

Re: Yaya Toure

I don't care about his age, wages etc if David Luiz is worth 50 million to PSG after his performance yesterday I want that for Yaya minimum.

Well said Mister A. It's good to see that we can agree on something!

If we're judging Yaya on his world cup performances too then we might get fifty quid, he was fucking shite.

Re: Yaya Toure

He's had a bad pre season with some silly comments we all no that but some on here are being to quick to write off one of City's greatest ever players and believe me replacing a player like Ya Ya is not easy

We all make mistakes and say things we do not really mean and if Ya Ya is still with us next season then let's give him a chance to show that he is still the best central midfielder in the premier league

If he's here next season, I won't boo him etc. as I want city to do well. However, unless there is scientifically provable evidence that Yaya was abducted by aliens and replaced by someone who's sole purpose was to make him look as big a cock as humanly possible, I will never sing that twats name again. If we can get good money for him, get rid. No, we can't replace him like for like, but I'd rather not have someone like this at our football club. If however it turns out the aliens thing is true, I will happily retract my comments and sing his name again.

I understand that viewpoint and agree with it somewhat, but where do you draw the line? We can't afford to give the impression that we will bend over and accede to the demands of every player who thinks he can get an annual pay rise by throwing a hissy fit.
We have to be pragmatic about it, and if we have to cut our losses and sell then so be it. We can't however give the impression that we are a soft touch. We would be asking for trouble in the long run.

It's such a tricky situation. I'm guessing obviously but I suspect that nobody at city really knows what state of mind Toure is going to come back in (if he even does come back). If I take everything that's been reported or said at face value then it's hard to see how he's going to come back and be happy.

If he's genuinely unhappy and has mentally checked out, then selling him would not really be seen as City being a soft touch, more City being pragmatic in a way in which they weren't with Tevez for example.
