To be regarded as a club legend in my eyes is a player that gives their all for the club and bond a natural affinity with supporters that will never be broken. A player that leaves the club with the total respect of his teammates, club officials and supporters. There is no finer example of this in recent years than Pablo Zabaleta IMO.

Football wise it can be justifiably argued that Toure has been our best and most important player in living memory, he certainly won us the FA cup and we wouldn't have won the Prem 2nd time without his magnificent contribution, plus all the other great moments he gave us on the pitch.

However, he and his odious parasitic **** of an agent collaborated on several occasions for Seluk to lambaste the club (and Pep) with spurious bullshit and lies, and the sad thing is is they have no shame in what they have spouted to the press.

I think of past and present players that I've seen play in my lifetime for City, some having consideravly less footballing ability of Yaya, but none of the players i regard as a club legend ever slated and disrespected our club officials and supporters tarnishing our name the way Yaya and snake belly Seluk has.

Talk about 'dont bite the hand that feeds you'. We fed the ungrateful cake eating lump of lard all he could eat and he bit our fuckin' hand off!
The way Yaya Toe-rag allowed his total scumbag of an agent to slate us with fuckin' bullshit and lies is a disgace, topped off by playing the racist card on Pep, especially after the send off the club and supporters gave him. I stayed till the end of his send off and I feel cheated by a player who proved beyond doubt that he wasn't grateful of our support of him on the pitch, or what the club did for him off the pitch.

He could have and should be regarded fondly as a living club legend, but all that has happened off the pitch has left a sour taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of when i think of him.

I see him as a living club leg-end that has lost my respect as a lifelong blue.
If and when he returns to the club he will get no verbal abuse from me, nor will I applaud him. Great player before he faded badly to become a cheap jaded copy of his former self, to then leave the club in such a sad and acrimonious way: /

I agree with your definition of legend having to be great players and totally getting the club off the pitch .so out of the current crop I would class zabba and kompany as legends .

He’ll still get a good welcome by the fans at City but despite his incredible influence, he’ll fall short of the status of Silva, Aguero, Kompany, eventually KDB and others due to his behaviour. Look at Tevez as an example. Brilliant player but not remembered in the same way as other players.

Amusing to see Yaya's 24-carat knobhead of an agent presenting this move as a triumph. Olympiakos were 13 points off the top last season in the 15th best league in Europe (based on UEFA country coefficients). They managed an average home gate of 14,026 over the campaign, which may have been the best average attendance in Greece but was bettered by 37 teams in England. To put it charitably, they're a big fish in what's almost a puddle.

In his prime, Yaya was an absolutely magnificent player and his prime was with us, for which I'm grateful. When he arrived at our club, we'd never even qualified for the Champions League and hadn't won a trophy since Harold Wilson was PM. His contribution to changing that state of affairs was truly immense. But aspects of his conduct meant that I, like others contributing to this thread, never quite warmed to him as we did to some of his colleagues, and his 'racist' outburst at Pep after leaving was unforgivable when he'd been given such a terrific send-off. If this is the best move he can get when available for free, it just goes to prove Pep's judgement over Yaya's playing time last season to have been impeccably sound.

However his behaviour, that was encouraged by his twat of an agent, and his lazy arsed attitude in his last few seasons mean he will never be a legend in my eyes.

Your last point is very good - Tevez was superb on the pitch but his off field antics make him forgettable. I hardly remember Tevez at all until I see him in older footage. I guess we are lucky with the likes of Silva, Kun and Kompany - all 3 have played the majority of the peak career years with us - we are very fortunate to have had the very best from these 3.
