I think the club can give permission for us to speak with Yaya, before we have agreed a fee.

Thats possible mate but to get the initial permission, figures must be talked about surely? Imagine us letting a club speak to 1 of our players, agree a contract and then not agree on a fee. Talk about unsettling a player

Barca know Yaya is going. They're just haggling about the price. They want the money to finance a bid for Fabregas, which is why they're trying to screw us for every last Euro. They've allowed us to reach agreement with Yaya because of the impending World Cup, which would have delayed the process if they had waited until a fee had been agreed.

Didnt they let us speak to Ronaldinho in similar circumstances back then?

I'm unsure mate. It just seems a strange way of doing things

-- Sun Jun 06, 2010 10:14 pm --

That seems a pretty logical way of looking at it mate thanks

Ivory Cost travels to South Africa tomorrow, so if we have agreed the €€€ with Barca - I’m sure Sven wouldn’t mind YaYa taking a detour.
would imagine everyone would want it sorted for the world cup and that barca would want the cash to up their bid for cesc??

On the MEN site:

Reports in Spain suggest that Manchester City are closing in on a 25million euro bid move for Barcelona's Yaya Toure.

Toure, brother of Blues skipper Kolo, has won seven titles in the last 12 months with Barca, but has found it hard to get regular first team football.

El Mundo Deportivo suggest that Toure is keen on a move away from the Nou Camp, with City the likely destination.

MUEN - on the ball as ever - for a local paper unusually they absolutely no links inside the club.

Do we really need Toure? I love De Jong I think he's a class player and he does the job fine for me, I'm not too sure we need another new defensive midfielder. We should be looking more at creative players in my opinion, the likes of Gourcuff and Van Der Vaart not another defensive midfielder that we don't really need.

I think it's great to have some world class players but if you don't need them then why spend the money.
