We always pay over the odd, so why not this time ? especially if the player will improve us ?

Other clubs need our money, more than we need the player. Barca, need this money to fund Cesc, and they need Yayas wages off the books. They cant have him sat there earning £85K.
Arsenal might propose a swap deal, but if they do that our money becomes irrelevant, as that would most likely be the favoured deal for both clubs and the players.
We need to play transfers this season with strategy and pateince. If we go flying in with an open cheque book like we did last summer, other clubs will have our pants down, and we will never earn any respect as a club.

I very much doubt this has anything to do with the manager mate. He won't have any input into price, he won't care.
