The signs aren't looking to good regarding Silva,,but that midfield looks top draw to me,just wanna get yaya sorted then maybe, just maybe Silva would come

If we can get silva then maybe a top quality left back then we can put this team sheet in front of him and say " this is where you slot in mate and oh yea... we are going for the title"

------------Given----------
Alves--Kompany--Lescott--Luiz?
Johnson---Yaya---Barry---Silva
-------Ade------Tevez-------

we are not going to play 4-4-2

How will we line up in your opinion then?

4132 is the way forward or even 4231

My ideal first 11...

.....................Hart....................
Richards Kolo Kompany Lescott
.........Ireland Yaya Barry..........
Tevez ...... Adebayor ....Robinho

Hart imo is better than Given. Richards/Lescott to offer tough steady fullback protection (I'd forgo attacking from the fbs). Yaya, Ireland and Barry to battle in midfield. Alternating 2 to hold and on to break into the box. Tevez and Robinho to switch and mix it up between getting behind defenses, dropping into the center as the creative force and getting into the box to score. Adebayor to be the target man.

IMO with good man management and with a huge amount of discipline I think this lineup would be phenomenal.

I would imageine somthing like this..

------------------Hart--------------

Boateng/Toure---Kompany--Lescott---New LB (Hopefully Bale)

-----------Yaya---Barry/De Jong----Milner

-----------------Silva/Robinho-----------

--------------Tevez-----Adebayor/Ibra--------

I don't understand why everyone keeps on saying that.

the alternatives are:

Tevez as a lone striker. Not going to happen... because, no matter how much he relishes it, he's just too short to be effective week in week out in the premiership as a lone striker (as evinced by the Everton games)

Tevez as an inside right striker. My preferred option, but both managers have avoided this like the plague, it's not been done once this season, there has to be a very good reason for that.

Tevez as attacking midfielder. Unlikely he'd be happy with that. Anyway, his movement is that of a striker, so what's the difference between that and a 4-4-2.

I reckon we're shaping up more like this:

-------------Given
Boateng-Kompany-Lescott-Bridge*
-------Toure--------Barry
Milner--------------------
------------------------Left Winger
-------Tevez
------------Centre Forward

The left back will push forward, the left winger will play almost a free role, Milner will definitely be helping out Toure and Barry, who are freed from having to cover both fullbacks and become more like box-to-box players.

It could easily work the other way around, with an attacking right back, milner on the left, and AJ cutting in from a right wing attacking role.

I think this skewed 4-4-2 is much more likely than a 4-2-3-1, unless we sign two excellent attacking fullbacks.

Weiss loaned out, hopefully swp goes then johnson will get a googd amount of game time against the weaker teams by swapping with milner or silva/robinho

----------------------- Given/Hart

-- Toure/Boateng -- Kompany -- Lescott -- Bridge/New LB

-------------------- de Jong ---- Toure/Barry

----- Bellamy/SWP --------------------- Johnson/Robinho

---------------- Robinho/Ireland

-------------------------- Ade/Tevez/Ibra

We look very strong
