Could barry not be classed as box to box or he is more a defensive midfield player . I reckon playin box to box would be good for barry , he has got a great left foot . Let him have a few shots at goal and if they're shit , drop him to the bench ;) simples

He doesn't really have the engine to play box-to-box. Energetic, powerful, driving, these aren't words you'd use to describe Barry are they? He fulfils the holding role excellently for England, so much so Capello was desperate to get him on the plane. He's great defensively, and his ball retention, although he does mainly pass it 5 yards to the left back or left winger, is excellent. He'd be ideal sat behind to driving midfielders like Yaya and say Martinez or Milner. I actually think that's how Capello will use him, just replace Lampard and Gerrard for Martinez and Yaya.

Agreed.

It's hysterical that people are moaning about Yaya Toure.

FFS, a few years ago we had Ousmane Dabo in a similar role.

We shouldnt buy Toure because we have Michael Johnson? Is that even a serious statement?!

Yaya Toure would be an upgrade over whoever we currently tried to play in his position.

I still think we should try and re-sign Negouai.......

Re: Yaya has signed for a prem club

So im told barry is good at his holding role if so wherer would NDJ play i personally think hes better defensively than barry but techinaccly isnt as good . But i rate both very highly in that position

Who's moaning about him??

I am not fully convinced that he is the player we need right now and we have already been told that we will not be buying many players.

Re: Yaya has signed for a prem club

Yaya Toure has only really played the holding midfield role while he's been at Barcelona but even playing further forward in previous years he's never been that influencial. He's a big physical presence and he's undoubtly talented but I don't think he's got the drive and passion that we need in midfield personally. Like Kolo, he flatters to deceive. In terms of talent Kolo is a better player than Kompany or Lescott but I know who I would want in the team every week and it's not Kolo. I just think they both lack fight but only time will tell if we have signed him.

They'd have to rotate, their approach to the holding role is very different. De Jong is tenacious and full of energy, he gets in the face of the opposition and breaks up the play as soon as possible. Barry is more off a composed holding midfielder and better with the ball. I'd play De Jong against teams who move the ball really quickly and look to hit you on the break and Barry against the teams we're more likely to dominate, that we he can add to the attack by playing a quarter-back-like role, dictating our attacks from deep, like Scholes.

It was a tweet. Another one full of shit.

Ah, now, I'm not "down" with the Twitter, are all the tweets we hear from Journalists and such or could it just be one of Tom, Dick or Harry saying whatever's being said?
