Yaya Toure Retires - City Legend and one of the Best ever

Saying footballers shouldn't speak about politics is an implicit defence of China, by saying people should just shut up and ignore their genocide - just like Arsenal releasing a statement that Ozil's views are not connected to theirs - and complete hypocrisy for a man who was always happy to bring racial politics into football when he was playing.

I shouldn't be surprised by someone who accused Pep of being racist saying something this stupid, but somehow Yaya manages it.

I wonder if he's already forgotton how big a role Drogba played in ending civil war in his home country?

Fair play to Drogba for helping bring peace to his homeland. That's an awful lot more helpful than spouting to the press.

Yaya was one of our best ever. But the baggage caused by his agent was, for me, a huge, and unnecessary, burden on our club.

we got the best out of a very good player, similar to how we got the best out of Mario. The crucial goals yaya scored worked wonders for the club, he just did know how to finish and take a penalty.

I think the club dealt with a bad situation well regarding contracts / money / disputes. Get the feeling yaya could be a stick in the mud himself at times but as for his agent, he just can cause shit given half the chance. Not as he would care what people think, greed has no conscience...

What the fuck has is got to so with Mario? Mario is one of the most famous massively under achieving players.
Yaya was absolutely insanely good in the premier league, and unplayable attacking midfielder who showed up in the biggest games.

wtf

Yaya has parted company with his agent , and he should have done that years ago , his agent was a greasy slimeball with his only motivation was money , now Yaya has retired the gravytrain has dried up and his agent has f*cked off , Seluk was a leach and he ruined Yaya's legacy at the club , for a couple of seasons Yaya was unplayable and the best midfield player in europe it was a sheer pleasure watching him in a blue shirt , and his signing instigated the influx of class players to our club , when we bought a top class player from Barca it proved we meant business.

No he hasn't. He said footballers should stick to playing football. Leave the politics to the politicians. More twisting of the facts

Klopp-out said something similar about avoiding politics - as long as the game isn't brought into disrepute, footballers and management are well within their rights to think and/or be human.

I live in said country and would be happy to hear any City player or the club (even at risk of losing $£RMB etc) condemn cultural genocide - and/or real genocide. It is risky to have an opinion and be divided in thought but my Granddad went to China after the European campaign to stop one set of teh axis of evil from dictating and trying to eradicate a plethora of cultures and people...
