Yaya Toure Retires - City Legend and one of the Best ever

Whilst I fully appreciate the manner of his leaving City is a source of irritation & maybe embarrassment for a lot of City fans for giving opposition supporters & the media an angle to get at City.
However, I have never seen another footballer do what Yaya was doing in his prime at MCFC.
For a few seasons, he was simply unique, a colossus and unplayable.
Brilliant doesn’t even come close to describing his on the pitch performances.
I can only dream of seeing a player with a fraction of his ability at my club.
MCFC fans are so fortunate to have seen the very best of Yaya.

Regardless of the last year developments due to his agent , he is a City Legend and pivitol in the 1st 2 title wins. Should have won Player of the year in the 2nd year.

Shame he's a bellend but in fairness, he's the best player we've had in the last 20 years.

Amazing player and club legend. Also a cock but I don’t care too much about that when watching the old games and remembering the trophies.

The greatest!

Took a little while to settle in but I remember a game in December 2010 at West Ham where, for the first time, he completely took control of the game. He bossed it, got a brace in a 1-3 win and I thought “woah hang on, what a player we’ve got here!”

From then on he was immense right up until the season when we won the title in 2014 where he was by far the best player in the country and should have easily won POTS.

For me, I don’t give a shit what people do or say, it’s what they do on the pitch that matters. And he is remembered by me for some of the biggest moments in the club’s history.

He’s the man who scored on the day everything changed. That winner he scored in the 2011 FA Cup semifinal against the Rags is the day Manchester Football changed forever.

He had an immense season the season we won the title in 2012. The two goals at Newcastle keeping it in our hands going into the last game.

He scored arguably the most beautiful goal I’ve ever seen to get us back in it in the 2014 League Cup final.

He was even better than 2012 in the season we won the title in 2014. I reckon the third best player in Europe that season.

And although his legs went and his fitness went, he still managed to come up with a defining performance, took no shit from Lallana and scored the winning penalty in the 2016 League Cup final.

Gnégnéri Yaya Touré, you are a Manchester City legend, I salute you Sir!

Enjoy retirement!

And well done to Roberto Mancini and Brian Marwood for signing him. He was the catalyst for everything good that happened. He was the name everyone wanted to come and play with.

That is an excellent rundown of just how immense Yaya was for us.

Is he our greatest ever player? I think the dust needs to settle on that but he is a contender.

As for someone suggesting the likes of Tueart, Oakes or even the Zab are better - good grief!
