Yaya Toure

It was suicidal to play him against Real Madrid's midfield but the desperation to play him on here was immense by some, claiming he's a big game player and would be capable of winning the game for us.

The game was all so predictable, sadly.

Yeah because MP looks at these posts to pick the team hahaha you're a funny guy...

When he came off we didn't do any better so what was your point.

He'll not only play, he'll be captain.
Seeing as we keep being asked to be in a reflective mood regarding his past exploits, think about this one ;
Would you give the captaincy to a player who can't or won't organise, encourage, lead by example, run, tackle and is leaving in two game's time after repeated threats?

It's good that posters come on to defend the Yaya we used to know and love. Surely none will argue he should both start tomorrow and keep the armband? If they want to spare his feelings, the club can easily say he's got a minor injury.

Anyone else noticed that with every season he gets older he seems to get heavier and do less running
He will try and put this down to age but we all know he's made a conscious effort to choose his final years to not perform how he used to, take the piss out of our club and as someone rightly said " drag our clubs name through the mud "

I don't believe it's a conscious effort not to perform, he's just older and less fit than he was. That's just natural, and if the manager keeps picking him of course he'll still play. I don't think he's taking the piss at all, he's just past his best. He's trying but he's fucked.

Despite this season, we probably wouldn't have won even half of the trophies over the last 5 years without him. He's a legend that time has caught up with.

I think there's one post in the Kompany thread from a fellow blue who's a physio that sums up Yaya's problem. Might well-worth take a look at it before attributing every problem to a conscious effort of down-tooling.
