I am not really that bothered about the England national side.I mean you cant even watch them on terrestrial tv,you have to subscribe to some Australians monopoly of sports & you have to be Cockerney to watch them.Much preferred it when they toured the nation. So clearly the English FA aren't bothered about drumming up support.
I'm also not that bothered about City players playing for the national team,as it increases the risk of injury & burnout.
I do however have to beg the question, would Phil Jones/Chris Smalling have even been selected for the squad if he still played for Blackburn/Fulham?
I may be a little biased but there's certainly a rag slant on selection.Micah has been absolutely outstanding in defence for over a season, yet Crapello plays 2 rag players out of position instead.

you are bang on the money, i posted last night that cappellos rag bias would cost him, jones was dire last night, not fair on the lad either, should be able to develope in his own position.

picking players for tv audience figures is a disgrace.
Jones is good going forward, but defensively he was very poor. Same for club and country. Can't understand why a national manager would pick him at right back when there are so many alternatives. I wonder whether the manager has given up trying to develop and manage England, and is instead just pandering to the media and looking for an easy life.

It's a fucking insult to two good right backs that two Rag centre halfs have been picked for Ebgland in the last two internationals. Capello is a fool!

Micah is better than Jones, Barry is better than Parker, Milner is better than Downing, AJ is better than Walcott, Lescott is better than Cahill
- must be City fan who wrote that
It's right though.

Lescott is the best centre half in the Prem at the moment, Richards is the best right back in the Prem at the moment - not just best English, but best in the Prem full stop, on current form (Lescott has been better than Kompany this season and Cahill isn't good enough to lace Jolean's boots!)! AJ is BY FAR the best English right sided mid / right winger. Milner has been absolutely EXCELLENT so far this season. To be fair there's not much between Barry and Parker and I don't think both should be in the starting XI because neither have any pace at all and will get ripped to shreds against decent quick opposition.
Pretty much spot on

just watching SSN
they linked England making a good start with Phil Jones making his debut

then proceed to show him make a rash tackle that should have been a penalty

Capello has become more interested in kow-towing to the rag dominated press the further he goes into his career

I think this is fair comment Squirty. When he first started I am sure there was a game where during the ninety minutes six City players played, yet as we have improved he has given our players increasingly less time at the expense of mid-table club players.

In his defence he has always been consistent Re Micah. I think he is too pig-headed to admit he was wrong. It is, frankly, absurd that he feels he can afford to leave out the first choice right back in the best defence in the premier league over the last 14 months.

i'm sure he is pig-headed, and Micah has certainly improved over the last year, and been awesome at times
he has more experience than Jones and a better player than Jones but he doesn't have that all important backing from the london centric media

Redknapp for coach of England? Really?

The man's tactical skills are on par with a cucumber.

I agree with this, but he has one thing that every England manager since Bobby Robson has sadly lacked - the ability to get his players 'up for it'.

We have absolutely no chance of winning the Euros or WC under Capello, but we'd have next to no chance under 'Arry....slightly better odds.... ;)

As for Micah, its always been City>>>>>>>England for me, so to have the lad pissed off and gnashing at the bit for Villa next week can only be a good thing.

Might be a outsider for the job Martin O Neill when Sven went he said he would of been interested in the job not too sure if he would be now.

But wait! Phil Jones is a "class act" who is the "future of the English defence" according to a load on here the other day?

Told you from the outset, he isn't good enough for England yet and he hasn't played particularly well this season. He had another uninspiring performance again last night
