Young Boys away

Having lived and worked in Geneva for four years I would highly recommend the Lady Godiva as the pub of choice in the city. It's in the Plainpalais district. Like everwhere else in Switzerland, the prices are eye-watering. Fish 'n chips; sausage, mash and gravy; all day full English; curry platter, and the burgers are really great. The landlord - Glen - is a big Fulham fan and a top bloke. The bar staff are the friendliest in town. Highly recommended venue and much better than Mr Pickwicks.

Cheers for the recommendation Blue.

Although I suspect the Mr Pickwicks recommendation was for the said pub in Bern rather than the one in Geneva.

Flying to Geneva tomorrow for my first European away game but have a bit of a dilemma with travel.

My flight back from Geneva is 7:30am on Thursday and the last train Wednesday leaves before full time and the first train on Thursday gets in a 7am. Is anyone either already making the journey from Bern -> Geneva after the match or would like to split the cost of car hire/taxi?

As it stands I'm hiring a car on my own but if anyone else is making the journey, it'd make sense to share travel as we can both save a bit of money by splitting the cost.

Public transport is free for tourists in Bern if you are staying overnight. There is a Bern Welcome App you can download and you activate it with a code from your hotel (the room reservation number in my case) It covers all local trains, trams, and buses and will get you to the Wankdorf Stadium. Every little helps with the beer prices. There is also one in Geneva if you are coming from there. My hotel there sent me a link.

As a fan of decent beer, some bars I have found:

Mr Pickwicks 11:30 - 24:00 as mentioned above

The Old City Irish Pub 17:00 - 23:00 Quite small and hard to find
The Bernese football Bar 17:00 - ? Good bar to watch footy, although could be a YB bar.
On Tap Craftgallery 16:00 - 23:30
Biercafé Au Trappiste 16:00 - 23:30
Altes Tramdepot Brauerei 11:00 - 24:30

Barbière 09:00 - 24:30 15 mins walk from ground. Has own micro brewery.

Might want to avoid the Cuba Bar where 40 Young Boys hooligans attacked 30 Anderlecht fans last August!

Looks interesting, but might be a bit to cultured for the majority of us
