Young Boys away

Public transport is free for tourists in Bern if you are staying overnight. There is a Bern Welcome App you can download and you activate it with a code from your hotel (the room reservation number in my case) It covers all local trains, trams, and buses and will get you to the Wankdorf Stadium. Every little helps with the beer prices. There is also one in Geneva if you are coming from there. My hotel there sent me a link.

Any tips on travel between Bern and Thun for the EDS game are welcome? Interlaken and the Eiger are tempting... until you see the prices for everything nearby.

You can take the train from Bern to Thun, travel time is around 18-20 Minutes if you take an Intercity train (S-Bahn is slower and stops everywhere). If you have the free public transport card from Berne you can buy a ticket for 6 zones instead of 8 zones so the trip is slightly cheaper, but still expect to pay around 30 Francs. They will sell you a Libero-Tageskarte which makes sense if you do the return trip. From Thun you can catch the Bus No. 3 in front of the train station to "Arena, Thun", takes less than 10 Minutes (included in your Libero Ticket). Or you can walk there in around 30 Minutes - leave the station at the back exit as the Stadium is in the other direction instead of the City. Thun is also nice for a little stroll around the river and the Old Town. Interlaken as a City (it's more a village) in my opinion is much overrated, it is more a gateway to the tourist hotspots like Jungfrau and so on. A trip to the Eiger takes to much time (if you want to visit the Youth Match) and will brake your bank.
