your 15 minutes of fame (city related)

I was live on Sky Sports in the crowd City V Tottanham, when Crouch scored an own goal to put us through to Champions League, from pretty much the same spot I saw him score the year before to put us out of Champs.

The screen shot is and probably will be for ever my FaceBook avatar.

My lad was the official City Mascot for the day, I obviously accompanied him on his mini tour, shook hands with all the players, Mancini and the CEO, then sat in all the changing room postions for each player and kissed their tops...And who's special day was it....?!!!!!!!

In my previous job I was able to escort the City coach to the Swamp for a match. Before we left for the ground, I jumped on the coach to speak to the driver in the hope of getting a freebee or something and Kevin Keegan jumped up out of his seat and said good morning...So I asked him, got a kit bag and kit, didn't stop there, I gave an impromtu rallying speach to the players, short and sweat, didn't work, we lost but I got to be manager for a minute....!!

I've got two - I came up with the idea for "Rosler's Grandad Bombed Old Trafford", T-shirts, but mentioned it to the wrong people was ripped off... and extremely pissed off at the time.

Fast forward 18 years and a simple idea/joke turned into a worldwide media shitstorm.
Sales of jelly and icecream soared.

I presented Tony Book a congratulations card from my school after the 1976 league cup final win.

And rather sadly im the highest poster on the largest City forum on the planet. lol

I was interviewed on SSN once, but was that pissed i didnt even remember and never saw it.

And i got 4 yorkshire rags STs confiscated after an altercation at OT :))

Also my niece bought carpets from the world famous De Niro

I did analysis of Wigan v City last season for an Internet Channel called SportsTonightLive. It was hosted by Porky Parry and Gordon Watson. They paired me up with a Wigan fan who said he thought Silva was the best player in the Premiership and he hoped we won the League despite his Dad & Brother both being U****d. I got good feedback from them and from friends who'd watched it - but probably won't do it again. And one suspects Tueartsboots won't be doing it again, either! Drunk and disorderly on the telly...

I was interviewed by Danny Jackson 18 months ago on his debut with the mic for City, thankfully that didn't make the website. Unfortunately, 3 years I did. I've changed much thank fuck.

I've been on TV in the crowd twice; the 05/06 home derby when it was 2-1 just before Fowler scored and during the celebrations at QPR.

Been in the prog lots over the years, was in the city mag wembley 99 special, northwest tonight used my crying face on the bulletins the day after we left maine road (bastards stood at the end of my row and wouldnt leave me alone, let me cry in peace please!!!), been in the city prog in the actual credits page listed as a photographer next to all the "proper" ones!, i'm in gary james wonderful maine road book, my pic is in the inside cover of kevin cummins maine road book, and my quotes are in len grants maine road book (i see a theme here lol!!!), was interviewed in june 2003 at maine road for granada when a news crew turned up to preview the auction but mike on the gate had let some fans in for a last look round - i was running on the pitch pretending to score goals! (luckily that is not on their footage!)
There's probably more but that's all i can think of for now ;)

Thanks for the comment about my book "Farewell To Maine Road" - I loved writing & researching that book, but the best aspect for me was interviewing fans (and others) or receiving their letters/emails telling me their Maine Road stories.

I knew what Maine Rd meant to me and how special it was but hearing/reading those memories brought different angles to the story. I included as many as I could get away with, but wanted to use a lot more. A belated thanks to all those who contributed.

No problem Gary - i think every City fan would agree yours are the best city books by a mile, in fact the best football books full stop.
Plus you were very tolerant with me and my Maine Road photos (!) - i was a lot shyer back then (a bit more relaxed nowadays!) so meeting up about the pics was hard for me, but i'm glad you used some and thank you for mentioning me in the opening credits, it really meant a lot. I loved Maine Road so so much (as i think you could tell from me at the time!).
Good luck with the new book - i didn't pre order it but plan to get it for xmas! :)

Thanks for that. If you are who I think you are then your photos were all great and captured parts of Maine Rd no one else seemed to. Thanks again.

Respect to fat boy blue for what must be a contender for thread of the month. Difficult to choose one from so many quality claims to fame, but surely "having a piss next to Gary Owen" is going to take some beating

BBC stopped me for a pic before QPR, think it was for my good looks :
