1967 Hanley S-O-T, Stevie Wonder, Flirtations.
1968 Winsford Civic Hall, The Kinks, my bloody heroes in those days !!

The Kinks in Winsford, so near, jeez, the most underated band ever. Didn't Alan Oakes and Glyn Pardoe come from Winsford.

They most certainly did and Alans brother is my best mate !!

We are practically touching greatness. If you can pass a message to Alan and Glyn, just say Ray says thank you.

I can't remember.

It was either Led Zepplin, David Bowie, Black Sabbath or Status Quo.

It was one of those, anyway, in 1972.

Oasis @ Maine Road.
here's me ticket.

Definetely Rebel mate ... i've never seen the Cockney Rejects.

two seperate groups of lads took exception to each other inside and it really kicked off ...... the cops manned the exits afterwards to try to catch them as one lad had been badly hurt.

Right, cheers for that - honestly, some people would kick off over holy scripture given a chance. Was that venue called Bowlers? Think Bad Company played one of their first gigs there, or maybe my memory is playing tricks.

I'm struggling to recall what the venues name was , it was so long ago (early 70's) ..... although i notice that one of the other posters on here mentions a venue called the Hardrock (Great Stone Rd) ..... it might well have been that , as that was the address of it.

Definetely wasn't Bowlers.

It was Hard Rock... at the time they played host to Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Roxy, Bob Marley.. all the stars.

It was a former ten-pin bowling place, then became a garden centre... I think it's a car park for the rags nowadays!

Thanks, that sounds pretty definitive. Not a venue I ever attended though I only lived down the road in Sale.
