Your Christian (or first) name

I'm happy with my first name, but my surname has always caused confusion.

I know I will always have to spell it out letter by letter when I say it. I don't personally think it's that difficult a name to say, but I think it's more a reflection of people that can't listen or read properly.

It's just my take on things. I was born with my surname. I have no reason to change it, but having spent my whole life having to spell it out letter by letter every single time I say it, I don't understand why parents of newborn children think a unique spelling of a name or one nobody has heard of before is a great idea.

It's not. It's a right pain in the arse their offspring will be burdened with for their whole lives.

'Is that Mr Bradley?'
'
No.

Read my fucking name and say it properly if you can read, please.

That's what my wife says, why give kids a name they will have to spell to people forever, as she has had to do.

My parents gave me my uncles name as my first christian name and the name they wanted to call me as my second.

It is a bloody nuisance, especially as the passport office omitted the second one from my passport. When I fill in my travel details I hardly recognise who it is that is travelling.

It always baffles me why parents name their kids with Christian names that sound like surnames eg Bradley.
Throughout life that persons going to get and what’s your first name.
The other one would be those who give their kids Christian names that sound the same for males and females such as Lindsay.
If they have a soft voice it’s panic mode on the telephone, am I talking to a male or female.
