Your England squad

Pleased Lambert got the call up and even more delighted he got the goal - for me England will always be a predictable outfit as long as they are picking players solely because they are attached to the big clubs. International selection for me should be based on form and if that means half of the starting eleven coming from the likes of Southampton, Stoke and Norwich then so be it.

If the 'same old, same old' players are picked in every squad (which they are) then it's hardly motivation for them to improve or for players outside of the squad to care.

Not the most popular opinion but I understand why Hodgeson decides to take so many players from Liverpool when you think about how little time he actually gets with the squad. It takes time for a squad to blend together and understand each other and by taking so many from the same team at least you can eliminate that.

While I understand it this doesn't mean I necessarily agree with it, but I think the bigger problem with the England squad at the moment is a combination of lack of viable players to play any other type of style than what we know and the expectations of both the media and fans forcing managers to pick 'safe' options in Rooney, Cole etc rather than experimenting.

Look at whats said on this forum, one in which people supposedly 'don't care' when we drew against Brazil for crying out loud. God forbid if we actually lost a match, Hodgeson would never get a job in England again. No wonder we don't take a chance with something else.
