Your England squad

Banned from playing in the U21 Euros because of being caught betting on teams. Rewarded with full England place 3 months later.

And people still cant work out why i cant stand Engerland.

A classic case of cutting-off your nose to spite your face.

If Townsend had played for England in Israel, perhaps the ignominy of three successive defeats might have been avoided?

And while I'm here, Smalling selected ahead of Dawson?

Please!

Is it any wonder anyone with a red shirt can get called up?

Hodgson taking umbrage with TV reporter who mentions MUFC-CFC was a bit dull. His view is it was best game of season yet. "Outstanding."

I've seen most of the Premier League matches played this season and the only one which came close to being "outstanding" was Cardiff City v Manchester City (sorry the result didn't go your chaps way).

Last night's game between United & Chelsea was a borefest.

You wanna know one reason why youth development in England sucks? You call up kids like Barkley and Townsend when they don't belong anywhere near a call up.

Next summer in Brazil will just be filled with disappointment

And this via Dan Taylor:
Hodgson in press conf saying Jonjo Shelvey very unfortunate not to be called up to England squad as well as Barkley/Townsend

Again proving why I can't get behind the national team, I prefer to watch someone like Belgium who have made real progress, very harsh on Fabian Delph he's been outstanding this season so far, Sterling's 18 minutes against Stoke must have been something to keep Agbonlahor out.

Apart from the obvious, ie the team he plays for, can anyone give any reason why Smalling is called up into the England squad bearing in mind the last start he had for United was ion 1st April in a cup game and he has not featured for them this year

Its a joke is it a written contract with England that all players who are eligible to play for the national team are called up

Totally agree...

cant believe barkley is in the squad, hes barely played, he needs time to develop at everton and he should be the player for the next tournanment not this one.

There are plenty of good players that he is just ignoring now, lallana being one of them

So across U21s and full squad 50 players are picked and United have 12, Liverpool/Spurs 6, Chelsea 5. I'm not going to slag of the setup for favouring United players, far from it, credit to them for getting average players to play well in a good system. The academy will take time but this balance needs addressing.

Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).
Fraser Forster (Celtic),
Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Todd Kane (Blackburn Rovers, loan from Chelsea), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea),
Will Hughes (Derby County),
Leighton Baines (Everton), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Ross Barkley (Everton), John Stones (Everton),
Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Jack Robinson (Blackpool, loan from Liverpool), Andre Wisdom (Liverpool).
Joe Hart (Manchester City), James Milner (Manchester City),
Phil Jones (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Ashley Young (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United), Nick Powell (Manchester United), Tom Thorpe (Manchester United), Michael Keane (Manchester United), Jesse Lingaard (Manchester United), Wilfried Zaha (Manchester United).
Sammy Ameobi (Newcastle United),
John Ruddy (Norwich City), Nathan Redmond (Norwich City),
George Long (Sheffield United).
Rickie Lambert (Southampton), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton), Luke Shaw (Southampton),
Eric Dier (Sporting Lisbon),
Jack Butland (Stoke City),
Connor Wickham (Sunderland).
Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea City),
Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Ezekiel Fryers (Tottenham Hotspur), Tom Carroll (Tottenham Hotspur), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur),
Jonathan Bond (Watford),
Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion),
