DIdn't particularly like De Jong today. Thought he was the reason we moved the ball up so slowly. Micah, Yaya and Silva.

He plays the Makelele role and shouldn't need to move the ball forward (he did make a couple of fine passes forward though). If Mancini wasn't so cautious and had a proper attacking midfielder in Vieira/Barry spot, this wouldn't be a problem. De Jong is doing what he specializes at perfectly, the other two midfielders should be creating more.

until we find that proper attacking midfielder, we need to put Milner there once fit as he's the most energetic of the lot we have.

NDJ really has no option but to slow the pace down when he is partnered with Vieira.

This is so untrue. On many occasions with no one putting pressure on him all he had to do was find someone ahead, instead he dropped it of to Lescott... who by the way hates having the ball. All lescott wants to do is defend and head balls out. not control it and make incisive passes. So when De Jong trns it around and dumps it to Lescott, even though he himslef had no pressure, he is killing City's ball movement. He did this almost all thru the first half, and didn't stop until close to the end when he finally put 2 to 3 balls forward.

No, it isn't. He started positioning himself better defensively and his passing was fine. His crosses were hit and miss but got better as the game went on.
