Low expectations can still lead to being disappointed, surprised no disappointed yes. This current lot have been spectacularly bad though.

It's not the best word If I'm honest. You can't "settle" this. Trying to find the right one to explain it.In what form do you see it settling?
I think Biden will say we can't carry on supporting Zelensky and he will have to accept Putin's territorial gains. He will speed up their NATO membership and Haliburton will rebuild Ukraine (at a cost of course). Putin will of course declare he's won.

I think that would be a grave mistake for anyone in the west to accept that. If America wants to reduce its spending on Ukraine then Western Europe will need to pony up.It'll probably end pretty much as it is now with Russia keeping the 'russian' bits in the east and Crimea.
