I think the answer is... yes...but maybe not in the derby.

The 3-at-the-back + wingback system works really well vs teams struggling for natural width.

I thought Chelsea played right into Liverpool's hands by dropping Malouda + playing Torres + Drogba upfront with Anelka behind.

United tend to use the wings more (especially Nani) so I would prefer a more traditional set-up for this game.

But... I take your initial point + agree with it: in certain games a 3-5-1-1 set-up might get the most out of the players we have.

oh my days.

chelsea dropped drogbà last year when won at OT. would you had do it ?

Drogba scored the winner in that game, and was only on the bench because Chelsea won 7-1 the week before so it's natural to keep the same team, and he was only on the bench in that game because he'd picked up a knock in the previous game v Pompy.
