Your Worst City Manager Since You Became A Blue ?

Ball. His record was shocking before he came to us and not only was he the worst City manager I've seen us have he was also a total embarrassment with his stupid flat cap and squeaky voice. Franny lee only got him in cos they were mates, cheers Franny

George Poyser. Under his management City attracted their smallest ever home crowd in the league.
8015 against Swindon Town in 1965. He was sacked a few weeks later, Joe Mercer took charge and the rest, as they say, is history.

This is a tough one. It's hard to chose between Ball and Clarke, but I think I'm going to go with Clarke. Clarke got off to a decent start and improved the team but then somehow instead of organising a promotion push turned us into relegation fodder in what is now the Championship. Relegation from the Prem is one thing, but to oversee a team to relegation from the second tier is unforgiveable (Yes, I know technically it was Royle in charge when we went down, but he took on Clark's team). We can't claim that we were unlucky to go down, we were truly abysmal that season. I remember with horror the loss at home to Bury and thinking that it must be one of the most embarrasing league defeats in the club's history. How the hell did we get into the position where we would lose at home to fuckin' Bury!

I used to joke to people that you "had to be pissed to watch City". It certainly helped during those dark Alan Ball years. And the Steve Coppell month. And the Phil Neal interim. And so on.....

There's no question that the 1990's were a grim period in the life of Manchester City FC.

The Colonel said:
I can't forget Billy McNeil going to Spain for his summer hols and coming back with the sweeper system after a conversation with John Toshack over there. Why would you do that? It bored us to the bottom of the league and got him the sack.
He had ablsolutely nothing to work with though.

didn't he go Villa and took them down with us
