You're the ref ? (hypothetical)

try this one.

you are reffing a game, one team kicks off and passes it back to the full back, the full back (who is on the left) punts a long ball up field, the keeper stood inside the area) brings the ball down on his chest and vollys the ball to his team mate who is playing attacking midfield. he then produces a maradona turn around 3 opposition players and plays a great through ball to his partner while the 3 players he took on all fall over in tears. the striker puts the ball out of play as the 3 players look hurt. play restarts with a throw and returned to the attacking team, the team produce a 35 pass move which ends in a goal kick.........

what is the refs name?

A defender passes the ball back to a team-mate inside the box, but, seeing an opponent racing in the keeper shouts for him to leave it and picks it up.
What now?

A) Nothing. The pass was meant for a team mate, not the goalkeeper, so it's not a deliberate pass back.
B) Even though Ronaldo doesn't play for Utd any more, you still want him to like you, so you award him a penalty.
C) Send off the goalkeeper & both defenders, but only if they are playing against Man Utd. If Man Utd are defending, send off the attacker.
D) You are unsighted and didn't see it properly. Just do what you would normally do & send off Mario Balotelli.

I'm not sure Keith Hackett actually has anything to do with it other than lend his name to it for an easy pay day.

I saw one once that said, an old bloke insists on hanging about on the pitch during a game as he says it is a public right of way.

"Keith's" answer was, play on around him after warning him that it will be his own fault if he gets hurt.

Stop the game. Award indirect free kick to defending team at the point where you touch the ball for the second time. No one else has played the ball.

correct, same if it happened if it was a free kick or penalty you took.

I am sure their have been a few instances of players hitting pens against the post and scoring the rebound directly and refs giving the goal cant remember the game though

I don't understand the 'you can't score an own goal from a free kick' yes you can! If somone floats in a free kick and you head it in instead of out or over it counts?!

your own freekick into your own net, they mean.

E.g. Vinne takes a freekick back to hart but it rolls in without a touch.

...and award United a pen

Great responses - intrigued that it would be a corner (I assumed a retake)
2 pen's for the rags and a red for the keeper.
