Yves Bissouma

Can't see us starting the season with him, Fern, and Rodri all in the squad to cover the one DM role we'll play in most games.

Realistically Rodri isn't going to leave unless he wants out which doesn't seem to be the case.

Only way I see it being a go-er is if Laporte or Ake leaves and Pep sees Fern as adequate cover, so we don't buy a replacement CB.

Not gonna happen.

Selling Rodri would mean significant loss on the books. Need to sell him for £40m just to break even.

Bissouma is most likely Fernandinho's replacement signed in advance when Ferna goes in 2022.
And what makes you think we won't be willing to take a loss on him if they've decided he's not the answer and needs replacing? We rarely get it wrong nowadays but that's the advantage the sheikh brings to us that other clubs don't have.

There's no way we go into the season with Rodri Bissouma and fernandinho in the squad, there's no room for all 3, both in a playing time sense and a simple squad numbers sense. we wouldn't have given dinho another year if bringing him in as his replacement was on the cards.

Rodri has over 100 appearances for us in two seasons.

Pep doesn't see an issue with him.

Did he tell you that by text or facetime?

Ignoring his injured season, Sane played a similar amount in his last 2 fit seasons with us... I don't see the relevance.

Im not saying he does or doesn't see Rodri as an issue, like everything else in this section, it's just pure speculation based on this claimed interest in Bissouma and 3 players for 1 position doesn't work.

Maybe we’ll play 2 DM’s if we get him?
iirc, he currently plays on the right side of a 2 DM set up where he’s the more attacking of the 2 and often pushes right up the field.

I know it’s not what we‘ve generally done but I can imagine that working well for us.
It would allow us to play 2 true attacking wingbacks rather than have Zinch or whoever move up, in attacking phases, to play as the left sided and more attacking 1 of what is effectively a 2 DM set up with Rodri, as generally happens.

I kinda doubt we’ll get him anyhow because IMO he’s fast and effective but lacks a bit of polish.
Having said that, Pep’s good at putting a shine on players.

Long term Ferm replacement working and learning his trade from the master for 12 months

Rodri was second only to Dias in PL minutes played by an outfield player.

In short, the spine of the team established last season was Ederson, Dias, & Rodri. Pep made that decision, so no-one needed a text or FaceTime from him.

I’d love to see the numbers for Sané, if you have them,

Rodri is fast becoming our must hate guy, taking over from Sterling, our fans need to show some respect to high class players, they do know how lucky we are to have players like this at our club.

Seems weird this rumour with the Fernandinho extension. Maybe we are planning to use Ferna as a backup DM/CB in case Laporte leaves? I havn't seen much of him to be honest but I am guessing no chance of a Bissouma-Rodri midfield in any of the games right?

Idea could be to allow Bissouma to learn from Dinho for a season and integrate to squad. Only problem is, one of them could be out of CL squad and maybe Bissouma is ok with it for a season.

I suspect if we sign bissouma it will mean Laporte is likely to be sold with him taking his spot in the squad and fern or rodri being used as fourth choice cb

kane -> aguero spot
Attacking mid -> Bernardo spot
Bissouma -> Laporte spot

Dont think all 3 of those transfers will happen but that’s the way I see it
