Zab or Micah?

Zabaleta is so overrated. His defense sucks. It REALLY does.

What a troll.

Zabaleta was the best right back in the league last season primarily because of his defensive abilities, he was outstanding.

Can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading. Zabaleta is a warrior. The best right back in the league last year. Fantastic commitment, defensively and going forward.

How can some people say overrated? Did you not watch our full season? I'm not going to say who's better or who I'd choose to start, it's a tough choice and like others have said will be based on opposition.

But Zab overrated? I'm not having that.

The warrior that got sent off in an FA Cup Final.

Because Barry sold him down the river with one of his trademark shit passes.

Did Barry also cause Zaba to handball in the friendly vs Bayern Munich?

On current form it's Micah.
Micah his fresh, full of the need to make his mark again for club, and hopefully country, if he continues to impress with his dynamism and attacking verve, that might give him more games under Pellegrini, but the manager is a great tactician, he will play the correct team for whatever opponents we are facing, and he will communicate this to the players, so no one feels left out like Dzeko.

Great question. Ive been thinking about this for 10 mins now and I dont know if I could choose one or the other. I agree its a circumstantial thing depending on the opponent. Ribery made Zaba look pedestrian, while Micah looked great going forward against Milan. Zaba was named the player of the year and the top RB in the premier league, not playing him seems crazy. I think this is a great problem to have, hopefully Micah can stay healthy and Pelle can get a nice 2-man rotation going.

To play devil's advocate on them rotating: Would Zaba have had such an amazing season last year if he wasn't able to play in (almost) every match and get in the groove?

Add to that the amount of help he got from Milner which is more than any right back in the league had

Player of the season for club
Voted best right back in the league

Has something changed since last season ?

Oh and yes Zabba.

Yes, something has changed since last season: the guy who made more league appearances in the title winning season is back from the injuries that kept him sidelined last season.

Good point, we are blessed with 2 great right backs.
I think both will get plenty game time.

Love to see Micah play as his pace going forward is awesome

I think that Micah has to be first choice because he looks supercharged so far in pre season - a player hitting peak form. But the issue is will Zaba be content to play second fiddle. We know Richards isn't so over to you, Manuel - this is where the man management comes in.
