Zabaleta confirms he will stay at City

If he was a bit younger i'm sure he would back himself to work hard and get back in the team, as it is i'm not sure he thinks he can afford another season on the bench. Give him credit for that, although personally I think he would do well in an attacking team, which hopefully we will be.

Well, if Zabaleta wants to stay I'd be more than happy to see him next season. But if he wants to leave we should reluctantly let him go. Nobody wants to suffer the slow decline that Demichelis has, and Zabaleta may only have a few more seasons in him. Only he knows if he's up to it physically, or it could be that he wants first team football regularly but I don't see him feeling that way.

Love the fella. Genuine love. One of the few (that if he were to leave) I will follow for the rest of his career. He gave his heart and soul for the sky blue and you cant say that about many of them these days.

Zab's performance last season was directly related to the serious injury he suffered at the start of the season. At 31 he is 2 years younger than Sagna. Just because he looks in his 40's, with his early hair loss, doesn't mean he's going to suddenly seize up! When Zab and Sagna have both been fit Zab has consistently kept Sagna out of the team. Zab is a superb player who can still be a leader and inspiration for other players. Selling him for £2.5m is a joke.

Couldn't agree more. People writing him off at 31 when Sagna is 33 and not nearly as good is ridiculous. Only injuries have curtailed him recently. He has 2 good seasons with us if fit. What has 33 yr old Sagna got to offer going forward ? Crazy to let him go. Ridiculous

I massively disagree that Sagna is not every bit as good as Zabaleta. I know we love Zabba but Sagna, in truth, established himself as first-choice this season. He played nearly all the big PL and UCL games and got a few assists as well.

As a rule i don't like footballers. They don't seem like my sort of people, all a bit boy band-y for me. Then you get people like Pablo Zabaleta. Fucking love the bloke and i hope he has a great rest of his career and retirement from the game in a few years time.

If you are saying Zabba wasn't fit for all of last season not being 100% then that alone is enough to say get rid. You are wrong though, Sagna was first choice last season on merit and thoroughly deserved his spot. I would be surprised if Sagna is first choice next season though. I think Zabba will probably know someone knew will come in so probably decided for playing time it's best to move on and fair enough. gutted though.
