I wish people would stop pushing so much bullshit and just have an honest conversation about what happened.
If you're going to discuss the game and any mistakes that were made you have to acknowledge -
1) The appalling record over the season vs. 532 teams, including the 2 defeats to United when they played that way, 2 to Wolves and Arsenal in the cup semi-final.
2) Stop pretending Lyon are the 7th best team in France, and not the second best side who slipped down the table spectacularly thanks to a change of manager and injuries, and then were in the middle of marching back up the table for a top 4 finish before Coronavirus ended the season. They are a really good side, which is why they were facing us in a quarter final in the first place.
Pep explained his decision really clearly too - it's not "inexplicable". I don't agree with the individual selections and the he seemingly didn't get the players to buy into it 100%, but his reasoning made sense.

Zinchenko is not good enough. He shouldn't be making these comments if true. Unfortunately, the comments themselves are perhaps true. Have a look at the pre-match opinions on Bluemoon when the team was announced. I have arrived at a point where I do not think we will win the Champions League with Pep. In his public comments he seems to talk up the opposition rather than giving the impression that we just need to play our normal game to be successful. He seems to treat European teams with far too much respect. Or perhaps we are really not good enough at present and he is trying to keep expectations under control?

I wasn't a fan of his selection but his logic made sense.
If the match officials had inexcusably got things wrong on the second goal, we may have seen a different outcome.
Regardless of any of that, the players should have performed better than they did.
Anyway, it's done now and hopefully all concerned will be even more fired up to be successful. I do know from a very good source that everyone from the manager down was distraught after the game; not a dry eye in the house apparently.
Why is what his wife said under this thread? Surely it’s better and easier to follow if it has its own thread?

Ironically, the only thing that could have been worse, would be playing Zinchenko.

What exactly is he "fuckin wank" at ? He deserves far more respect than that from somebody who supports the team he plays for.He’s fuckin wank anyway let’s be honest. Nice guy etc but no way near good enough
He's a CM player, who's played at LB because we had a shortage of them, he's probably played twice for City in his best position. When he plays for his country he plays in midfield, and has had man of the match a few times, including against decent teams.
We'll only really see how good he is when he's played in his true position, as a stand in LB he's done an adequate job for us, and he'll leave with my thanks for doing that.
