Ibrahimovic
City are set to chase Zlatan Ibrahimovic if the capture of Edinson Cavani fails – according to this morning’s media reports. The Blues have been linked with Napoli striker Cavani repeatedly, but only last week we told you that the papers were predicting that the Uruguayan would end up at Paris Saint Germain.
Now, the Daily Express reckons that current PSG striker Ibrahimovic could be City's solution.
The paper's Charles Perrin writes: "The Citizens have turned their attentions to PSG forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic in case they miss out on their top striking target.
"Ibrahimovic, who is paid a staggering £11.5 million-a-year by the Ligue 1 giants, has been on Juventus's and AC Milan's radars."
But the plot thickens, as the Metro reports that Thiago Silva has urged his Swedish teammate to reject a move to the Etihad Stadium, and to stay with PSG.
"Ibrahimovic has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, after again impressing on the European stage for PSG this term," explains Hannah Duncan.
"But Silva says he has urged the Sweden international not to quit the Parc des Princes, insisting the club can be a huge success with the 31-year-old leading the line.
"'I hope Zlatan will stay at PSG. He can help the team and the club grow. I really want him to stay put,' Silva said.
"'I have not yet had the opportunity to talk to him about whether he has already made a decision on his future.
"'He's a normal guy who always wants to win. He gets angry when things don't go well. Sometimes this is a good thing and sometimes it isn't. I see him as a positive guy, though, who gives strength to the team.'"
Looks to be plenty of twists and turns in this one yet!
Elsewhere, on loan striker Roque Santa Cruz has opened talks over a permanent switch to Malaga - that's according to Goal.com.
The Paraguayan has been on a season-long loan to the La Liga outfit, scoring 10 goals, and the 31-year-old has reportedly told a radio station he's having talks with Malaga - as well as Brazilian side Botafogo.
"Financial difficulties at La Rosaleda could prove to be an issue with regards a permanent deal and Santa Cruz has confirmed he is pleased to hear of Botafogo's interest," writes Stuart Watson.
"'The interest [from Botafogo] does exist and I'm aware of it, my agents are analysing this possibility that has appeared and there are some talks,' he told Paraguayan outlet Radio La Nueva rgs.
"'It's a very big club; I'm flattered by their interest. It's always important to be wanted by a club of such size.'"
