Bernardo Silva to replace David Silva.

As for who replaces Sergio, I guess that depends on how Gabby improves.

I have three years on you and Colin was always my hero. But you are right, Dave is simply the best player to ever wear a City shirt and the best player I have ever seen.

They are such different players. Would love to have seen them play together.

The King was a more KdB “grab the game by the scruff of its neck and make things happen” sort of player. I loved him and never thought he would one day not be my favourite City player.

But now, if I had to pick one player I have enjoyed watching more than any other in fifty years of watching football, it would be Dave - he is a supreme talent. One of the many reasons I would love is to win the Champions League is so that he has the full set of Prem, CL, Euros and World Cup and wouldn’t just go down as our best player but one of the best in the world over many years.

It’s very unlikely to be this season. ;-)

As others have said, it’s not that long ago that we were wondering how we would ever replace Yaya, but Kevin has more than filled the younger Touré's boots.

If Phil Foden continues to develop at the same rate as he has progressed over this season, we may well already have Merlin's replacement on our books. I know Foden has a long way to go to reach Silva snr's level, but he is a fantastic prospect and we all have very high hopes for him. I can also see Bernardo succeeding David. He has come on in leaps and bounds this season and he is unlucky that he hasn’t had more game time.

Pep said a while back that Fernandinho is one of the best three at what he does in the world, so it’s going to be a huge job to find a worthy successor to him. Cover for Dinho should be our No. 1 priority in the summer because as great as Ferny is, he can’t go on forever and as good as
Gündoğan has been, he is not the specialist that Dinho is.

I’ve already said that if Gabriel stays here, he will break Sergio's goal scoring record, but he can’t carry the burden up front on his own. We certainly need a third top quality striker this year and then another when Kun eventually leaves. Gabriel is a very good forward, but he does have a petulant streak and I’m worried that he will spend more time than he should suspended.

Pep, Txiki and co. have plenty to do in the coming years.
 
Silva for Silva short term, but Foden is David's ultimate successor.

Jesus is obv Kun's successor. He still has a way to go, but if he can reach his potential, he could theoretically be better than Kun, just because he's a better aerial threat. That said, he will never have that 2012 moment, because no one else ever will.

'Dinho is the real question, no obvious successor on the roster atm. Fred is bandied about...could go get someone else. Or maybe Pep transforms Stones into a world class CDM kind of like Lahm? (Lahm was one of the greatest full backs in the world at the time, so tbd on Stones)
