I’d be interested in seeing that list at different times in history. Ie pre premier league, pre not sharing gate receipts, pre 1975, pre 1945 and other important dates to see how things changing in the world and/or in football changed the fortunes of different clubs...

That's the thing, even pre-takeover City was up there as one of the most historically successful clubs (top 12 at least) in England. It is the number of second tier (in its various guises) titles we have won. What is perhaps even more "typical city" is we have held the top spot in this list since 1910! (when we pulled level with the red dippers). In actual fact there are very few of the tier's 111 seasons when we weren't.
