Cashless Payment "City Card"

It's a common assumption that when not dealing with hard cash you tend to spend more, just thought I'd add that

This will be the reason we had vouchers with last year's a seasoncard.

I guess that either this or next summer or seasoncards will have £10-£20 loaded onto them to entice us to go down this route.

Anyone who has been to the Allianz Arena will be familiar with this rip off. You basically have to load up a minimum amount on to the card, say £10.

You then have buy all your food and drink using this card. But they price the items in such a way that it's impossible to spend exactly £10.

You can either spend £9.50 and leave 50p credit on the card and essentially throw away 50p. Or you can go and add an extra £10 credit on to it to buy that 60p slice of cheese for your burger.

If you have a balance on your card, you can't reclaim it in cash. If you lose your card, you've lost your money, same as if it actually was cash.

You can reclaim the money on the Allianz card. And the minimum is 5 EUR.

Whatever my club does to make a profit is ok with me. They are not going to alienate the majority of fans, that would be stupid, but tbh they are making a profit off the fans which goes back to the club to pay for more success.

I am all for making sure they don't rip the fans off but jeez it feels like everything they do gets complaints and protests from fan groups.

I said it's a waste of time and would never consider it. Not really sure why anyone would want one.
I go to a football match to, surprisingly, watch football. I have the mental capacity and will power to eat and drink before the game and after it.
And what's wrong with using contactless credit or debit card

I'm guessing you don't have to get one so not sure what the problem is? The hip and trendy who are with the times will have them and folk like me will still carry cash. The world will keep on spinning.

I've just done the latest City Voice survey and one of the areas of discussion was a Cashless payment card they are calling "City Card".

It's similar to a Gift Card you get for xmas and then stick in the back of your wallet and never use.

Anyone who has been to the Allianz Arena will be familiar with this rip off. You basically have to load up a minimum amount on to the card, say £10.

You then have buy all your food and drink using this card. But they price the items in such a way that it's impossible to spend exactly £10.

But here's the really enticing feature, you can earn CITY POINTS on your card. Imagine, you can get ripped off for food and drink, ripped off for the way you pay for food and drink, but you can actually earn CITY POINTS!! We don't know how lucky we are!!

In a day and age where contactless payment on debit cards is becoming ubiquitous, I really can't see any possible benefit from this, other than the club ripping fans off as much as they can.

They could introduce this as early as next season.

It's yet another example of the executives at the club completely alienating themselves from the fans, rampant profiteering to squeeze every last penny out of us.

I genuinely think if Khaldoon knew the wedge these guys were driving between the club and the fans he would be horrified. For the sake of a few extra thousand pounds they will go to any length to screw the fans over.

I urge every match going fan to sign up to City Voice to let them know what you think of this idea.

FFS - It's not compulsory.

Some people might like the facility to only spend what they have on their card rather than having to remember to go & get some cash out. It's also a way of limiting what they spend.

If it's something that some fans want then great for the club to offer it. Why be so cynical & criticise the club every time they offer something new

I'd imagine they wouldn't make them compulsory, so if you think they're shite then just don't get one and stick with easy cash. They could however tempt you by making nice fast queueing for beer and food for holders of the card.......ooohhhh, dirty bastards eh!

I did say in the survey that I was in favour of such prepayment scheme due to the queuing issues, although I feel this is a separate issue that can be addressed with improvements to the CitySQ, with the possibility of a indoor type venue, a more "upmarket" Mary D's which would allow fans to congregate pre/post match... Taking away the desire to tank up on the concourses in one big rush at HT.

Sadly, the club has lost me (and a few friends) from buying anything inside the stadium due to the cost.
£2 for a snickers bar when across the road at Asda the same is 50p
Least not forgetting the beer tastes like shit.

Yea, big indoor venue for fans to congregate with prepayment options would be superb... the concourse is inadequate for socialising with a drink due to the time restrictions.
