China crisis?

No coincidence the two biggest PL teams in Asia are getting a leg up at the moment.

Its happened before - back in time Spanish and / or Italian football had the money and scooped up the world talent. Recently we in England assumed that place. We can't moan now China is doing it. Its the way of the world. Why should FIFA step in to help Europe keep the best players? Their stated aim is to spread the game across the world and Chinese money is helping that happen.
This, all day long.

On a side note just as I clicked on this thread a Chinese lady posted a Chinese takeaway menu #spooky

Couldn't the CFG backed Chinese club buy Bony off us for a cool £50m?

If it does happen, we'll be one of the club's best equipped to succeed in Europe following our investment in the academy, so it shouldn't worry us too much anyway.

A bit rich asking FIFA to get involved.

All the other European nations look at the Premier League in the same way as we pay the most in terms of wages and transfer fees.

I think some mercenaries will leave but those still wanting to play at the highest levels will stay.
Difference is other European countries may begrudge the PL being able to offer the highest salaries but at least the players continue to ply their trade in the major European competitions which we collectively enjoy watching.
Players off to China will be playing in a league only of interest to the Chinese at least at present.
As long as only a few mercenaries as you say leave that's no big deal but when and if it becomes a heat sink for top talent then it would affect the quality of the football we enjoy watching in our leagues.
I still think people would view it differently if Silva and Kun were being lined up for a move...

It's an interesting situation at the moment but unless the world beats a path to the Chinese League and TV viewers want to watch it to the same degree as the PL, then it doesn't appear to be sustainable. We've seen similar situations at club level, where a new owner comes along to an under-performing club, promises the earth to fans, throws a bit of money at it but then gives up or mismanages things. The same happened in the US back in the 1980's, when a number of high-profile players went over there.

Hardly best players now though, even Costa wouldn't replace any of ours, Tevez in his pomp though would be 2 upfront for ever.

crisis ? the premier league did exactly the same to other leagues. we offer the highest wages and pay the most, dont see a problem with china doing it.
