Yes they were and if memory serves me right kiddo joined us from Arsenal and Denis played for us first from Huddersfield. So distant rags in that respect to a certain extent, unlike messers Gidman and Schmeichel who joined us straight from that horrible swamp!.

I think ball was thinking his legs had gone as he only played 3 games out of about 11 or 12 at the start of the 95/96 season, there was no whispers of him being unhappy but in hindsight it might have had legs as we got him from pompey and he returned to pompey. I think he did his cruciate towards the end of the season and retired not long after, he was 34 at the time though.
But creaney was awful, I always remember when we got shut of him he turned round and his first words was "not many strikers can say they scored at st James park, Highbury and elland road..."
I still cringe at the lame comment even today.
Cheers bud. Makes sense in one respect I suppose although certainly not in relation to bringing Creaney in!

I used to quite like bertie to be fair and his over the top celebrations and I used to see him quite regular, in Middlewich on a Tuesday night. I played a bit of luck about with mates at Middlewich Leisure Center and bertie was player/coach with Leek Town who trained on the same pitch, after we had finished.
